We all have our roles. Each person likes to do different things and the whole is made stronger by allowing them to indulge. Some like to map and find other players, some like to follow up on that and attack when needed, and some (me) like to build to support the rest.
Indeed. It's a fact of BNT that mines almost always just hurt innocent explorers or newcomers to the game.
Nope. Spin it any way you want, if you need to do that to sleep better, but the fact remains that in the last game SGC acted in good faith in a treaty with the UFP. And then when the UFP decided it was powerful enough to completely and utterly stomp SGC without them having even the slightest chance at a fair fight that is exactly what they did. So in this game, when some of us who got raped with a pointy stick by the UFP in the last game saw exactly the same group of players form an alliance we obviously decided "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice..." As it stands, the odds are stacked against us, much like the Shadow War in "B5". But still we choose to fight rather than sit quietly and wait until the Shadows have decided they don't need us any more. And much like in B5, when you are outmatched by your opponent, sometimes you have to use...unconventional...means to have even a fighting chance. I mean, on the show Sheridan got his nickname for doing the sort of thing that could've come straight out of BNT.
Different times, different games. Personally, I'm on the level and I plan on dealing on the level with everyone. I got tired of getting suckered into something because someone else screwed up, and on top of all that, I was often stuck with the bill when I didn't do a damned thing. Besides, in the last game, I was irritated by having to go against my word because the rest of the alliance willed it. This time, I will support my Alliance to the fullest, but if they want me in a fight, they're gonna have to convince me as to why it benefits the alliance to do so. As I said, I'm in a greatly reduced capacity in this game. I'll continue to do my thing and help those around me, but I have no wish to fight anyone unless they attack me first. The ISA seized and destroyed three of my worlds. You were a handy member of the ISA so I struck back and destroyed those three worlds in your system. I say that makes us even and I have no reason to continue to fight. Search, yes. Rattle the saber to show my displeasure, sure. But a first strike? Nope, not this game. I'm tired of always having to watch my back.
Fair enough. I know full well that I'll have to earn the trust. Just give me a chance to prove to you that I'm a man of my word.
If you are speaking on behalf of your alliance, I think I can speak for all the ISA in saying that we would welcome an immediate ceasefire with all Colonial Fleet members.
Computer. I see you have joined the Colonial Fleet, let us hope that the leaders of it agree to a ceasefire.
My planet changed. It's a different color... and a small part of the bar under it is red now. All I did was put a couple thousand fighters on it.
Right now what are you offering to any new player? For example, if any new player (or existing) wants to join the Interstellar Alliance, we are able to provide resources to upgrade their hulls to a decent level, and give information on good trade routes. Within a few minutes a new player can be flying around earning millions of credits if they join with us. Your signature however, says just that the RSE could really use some heavy firepower, implying that your alliance is currently weak and consequently unable to defend anyone who joins.
That's a quick rough display of your planets strength. As your ships tech level rises, your planets will change as well to reflect their increased strength.
Talkahuano, if you need any help, you can contact anyone in the alliance, or myself over AIM or in caht.
In alliances, do we share the location of planets, trade ports, and other stuff we find? Or do we keep that to ourselves?
That would be something you would be best talking directly to your alliance about as it is something each alliance decides internally.
I am not the Alliance co-ordinator. I can never speak for the Colonial Fleet as a whole. When I speak, it is only for myself.
The taking of Caprica was actually almost the final voyage of the Executor (I forgot to stock up on energy before making my attack run ). I have only been going after the ISA because I found your early game actions disagreeable. Blowing so many players out of the water early on was just uncool.
Everyone is welcome in the Galactic Empire, new members get secrets of the Universe, access to the Empire's banking worlds and membership in an alliance with a really cool name. With perks like these who wouldn't want to join?
