He was having an outpatient procedure of some kind and suffered a massive heart attack afterwards, at the hospital. They couldn't bring him back.

He should have died in 2004 so he could have kept his dignity.

So does this mean they will be propping up his corpse in Times Square on New years Eve and operate him like an animatronic robot? People wouldn't notice the difference.

Dang!! I agree. Every year I saw him I was like.."Whoa!! Shoulda just stayed home!"

One time I saw the camera on him when he thought he was off. It was like he died right there. Then when he realized he was on, he slowly reanimated! It was weird.

They'll be playing something with a lousy beat that you can't dance to at the funeral. :(

I thought he was going to outlive us all. The man was a music legend, and instrumental in shaping so many childhood, teenage, and adult years. He was the voice of many generations.

Rest in peace, Dick. May you rock out wherever you are. :salute:

Man had a stroke in '04. Retired from everything except the Times Square gig, and probably shouldn't have continued with that, but it was his whole life. Hard to walk away from something like that.

    Bummer... I guess.

Bothers me more when really talented artists go as opposed to the music business pimps. But he was certainly a staple in the business.

Just think, the de facto successor to the throne is that faggot Ryan Seacreast. That should bum everyone out.

Wonder just how many talents American Bandstand brought out of obscurity?

The parallels are deeper than that, dumbfuck. But I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you because you're fucking lazy.

I can't even recall, but I always thought he was awesome. American Bandstand, 25,000 Pyramid (then 100,000 Pyramid), Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve, Bloopers and Practical Jokes, the man was a legend on television and through the radio. It's a shame that he had to die of a heart attack, instead of peacefully in his sleep. I think that bothers me the most.

They'll probably edit some sort of retrospective together. It was a very long career.
