The article doesn't name who this genius city councilman of Seattle is. I want to know if this is some idiot white SJW who is offended on behalf of black people because he thinks cleaning human feces off of sidewalks is "racially insensitive" to blacks or if this is a black city councilman who is just so used to playing the race card he is incapable of doing anything else.

Haven't clicked the OP link, only scanned the comments but if y'all are talking about Larry Gossett he isn't a Seattle City Councilmember, he is a King County Councilmember and if the article got that wrong what else did they get wrong?

Actually he specifically said hosing turds off of sidewalks reminded him of black civil rights protesters getting hosed by police. So, yes, Bison was accurate in his summary according to the OP's complaint.

I'm reminded of talking to some students about Amy and I being interested in adopting a baby. One of the African American students asked me if we would be willing to adopt a black baby.

That being said, we use them here in downtown and it's no big deal, so...it's misguided, but it's the thought that counts.

I am glad the city does it downtown and it is just sad 20 people had to die of Hep A before the city started taking its public sanitation duties seriously. On, the upside, in San Diego people pretty much all said "Damn, that shit on the sidewalk is nasty. The city needs to clean that up." Where as in King County apparently cleaning up nasty biohazards off the sidewalk is "racially insensitive". You can't make this shit up.

I have to think that someone who raised this objection is disguising some other one, but I can't imagine what it would be.

yes Chup! Not everyone in the US is as thin-skinned as you are. Most people can, indeed, take a lighthearted joke with good intentions, especially from someone they know well. You probably don't follow US football but around 70 percent of the players are black, and running backs are an ever greater percentage of black players.

Where I work, we hold an annual "jail and bail" for charity. Senior management gets handcuffed by off duty cops and put in a fake jail we built until they annoy enough people into donating to the campaign. I've helped run it for several years, and I've even helped with arrests the one year the cops were called away early.

But also, one year I saw an article suggesting that such events "trivialize incarceration," which the article claimed was a dick move when you're raising money to help the poor, since the threat of incarceration is something that hangs over the heads of a lot of homeless people. Sleep on the wrong sidewalk one night, maybe you wind up in a cell next to murderers and rapists. I brought the article up at a meeting, everyone stared at me like I was insane, the meeting continued, the event went on as planned.

But I bet Dinner would make several threads about that single comment at a single meeting. "PC Libtards run wild! Ray hates helping the homeless! Canadian Timelord hates cops!"
