I saw "Blue Beetle" in the movie theater yesterday & it was alright. Of course I went in fully expecting to see a train wreck.
Well, the James Gunn reboot of the DCEU/DCU isn't going to be clean, it's going to be piecemeal. Some characters will reboot, some actors/characters will slip through the purge. Particularly, the Peacemaker-verse will slip through.
Not a fair comparison. Peacemaker is simply good stupid fun. Man of Steel was a solid if somewhat flawed reboot of one of the most iconic fictional characters in America. A tough act to follow the Christopher Reeve Superman, but Henry Cavill pulled it off. BvS and Justice League (both versions) were not much better than a wet fart, and definitely less satisfying.
It may not be a fair comparison, but it seems like at the end of the day you agree with me about it. (Or at least, we have overlapping assessments of these four properties.) Yes, it's harder to adapt a serious character with the corresponding expectations that come with it than it is to have free rein to do whatever goofy shiznit comes to mind. But at the end of the day, I'd rather watch John Cena doing goofy stuff than any of the previous Henry C. Superman vehicles so far.
Brandon did a respectable job mirroring Chris Reeve, but that film was trash. The "Superman gets hit in the eyeball with a bullet" shot was cool...and that's about it. Not down for a film where Supes is a jealous stalker and deadbeat dad, and where James Marsden's character is probably a more noble guy than our supposed hero.
He was quite good, but living in the shadow of Christopher Reeve since Superman Returns was clearly a continuation of Superman II. Man of Steel was a complete reboot.
The only reason Brandon Routh got the job is because Brian Singer wanted to - and probably did - fuck him. At the very least Singer drugged him and had Routh suck his dick Hollywood, man
James Gunn discussing the upcoming Aquaman movie and everything releasing before Creature Commandos: Why don't they just bin everything for tax breaks instead of releasing more mediocre shit that we absolutely don't have to watch in order to understand what's coming after, especially if they're going to keep rubbing the irrelevance of these movies in our faces? Why keep watering down the brand and reinforcing how skippable DC content is at the box office? Or at least release Batgirl, Leslie Grace is cute as hell and I wanna see Brendan Fraser set stuff on fire.
Welcome to how Star Wars novel fans felt after 2012. Welcome to how Mara Jade and Galen Marek fans felt after 2012.
They reportedly want Kurt Russell for Jor-El. Whether they get him is another matter. ...eh, they probably will. What else is he doing? https://comicbookmovie.com/superman...y-will-brainiac-also-appear-a205951#gs.6egmpc
DC/WB tried to fire Amber Heard, but Elon Musk (who she was boning at the time) protected her. https://comicbookmovie.com/aquaman/...-until-elon-musk-stepped-in-a206097#gs.67xjhi DC is suuuuuch a shit show. Jim Shooter on his blog told stories about how when they did the old 80's Marvel/DC team-ups, DC as a comic company was being run like a shit show. This is an old problem.
If DC wanted to fire her only to appease the pro-Depp incel MRA troll brigade, then I'm actually glad Musk put them in their place.
