He clearly stealth banned GT for no reason then threatened him with more abuse if he told anyone. The "no sharing PMs" rule is listed underneath the personal information section. It is a longstanding tradition here that discussing personal information is fine if the person has given their permission. If gturner asked Dinner to post something, isn't that permission implicit?

It is meant so that confidential trust is not broken. When someone gives you permission to post something, as GT gave to me, then it has never been against the rules. Gul is trying to bury it because it shows just what a cowardly liar John is.

Posting a PM with permission of both parties is not a "bannable offense" and never was. This is just more bullshit to threaten people. I'd shed no tears if the disgusting racist got banned, but the constant stream of bigotry, and the fact that most members think he's a racist, should have been enough for a ban - as it would've been at most other boards. Making threads over rules that do not exist and then pretending you're being generous with snidey comments saying "hey, look what could have happened to you!"? Not cool.
Sadly, this is the truth...and this was essentially what I said the minute Gul and Anc became owners three or so years back. Neither had the personalities to act with fairness and objectivity, such is their combination of pride, insecurity and sense of superiority. Well, Anc clued up fast and jumped ship. The gap has been filled with weakness in my opinion. Plus, why is it that when these decisions are taken it's John, as a non-owner, who is wheeled out to face the music? Notice the latest trick of the owners is simple to not engage at any length over these decisions and instead pass the buck to a volunteer moderator. Shameful.
Why is this thread in the Violet Room? Come one eliteforge. @gul, @Anna, @John, you don't even have the balls to post that you move threads to the VR or why now? Threads that make you uncomfortable equals violat room now? This isn't a call-out thread. This is responding to a board's policy decision which have always been in the Red Room (since eliteforge is apt to close the help desk threads without actually helping). Move this back to where it belongs.
The initial idea was to ban him. Then the idea for the Daycare type forum popped up, and it was bandied about for a while, and we wondered where it would be better to limit access, or to ban outright. At first, I was hesitant to support the Violet Room, but also don't like banning people. With a little effort on the part of the others, I came around to the idea, and the final consensus was that while banning was certainly preferable in some cases, we'd still try the Violet Room. So I created the Violet Room, and laid out what it was to be used for besides an alternative to banning. The Red Room is the heart of Wordforge, of that there is no doubt. The problem is it was experiencing a bit of heart disease, and much of the body was dying off as a result. So the idea was to begin isolating the primary cause of that disease: shitposting. Gturner is a massive shitposter. It's what he's known for. There are others, but he tops the list, congratulations goes to him, I guess. I have made no attempts at hiding the fact that I knew he would be the first to be placed in the Violet Room. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. Still, we agreed he deserved a chance to avoid being put there. Hence, all of my posts, tags, and open discussion. He didn't miss it unless he wanted to miss it. Short of firing a flare up his ass to get his attention, he had every ample warning one could receive by people who didn't have to do so. Of course, once you warn someone not to do something and draw that line in the sand, you need to back it up when they cross over that line. We backed it up. You don't have to like it, because clearly you and others don't, but we kept our word. He didn't go into this ignorant. As I said before, the PM he sent Dinner and a few others immediately after receiving my notification should tell you exactly what he was up to. Some of the members have already bought his tale of woe, and what we see now is a result of that. Others, once I explained it to them, accepted it. Of course, Wordforge wouldn't be Wordforge if there wasn't a mob with torches and pitch forks, but it doesn't change anything. Even gturner gets another chance. Instead of being banned, he was restricted to the Violet Room. He can still post there, and clearly people are posting in there if the activity is any indication, so he's not missing out. Once he shows he can do more than shitpost, and to stop shitposting, he can be released. If he can't, he stays. Let's not pretend most of you railing on this now, would be okay with him being banned. If we would have banned him outright, some of you would have shit a solid gold brick, and the screaming would have been ten times as loud. I think what I find most interesting in all of this is that I have been nothing but open about every course of action being taken here, and yet it's still being treated like some grand conspiracy. I mean, if that makes people feel valued, relevant, special, okay, but it's not the truth. The fact is that the Violet Room, or something like it, has been pushed around for quite a long time. With gturner's recent activity the past few months, the idea started making its way back to the forefront. The atmosphere has become toxic. Some of you have been breathing it so long, you wouldn't know fresh air if it smacked you right in the mouth. We're going to clear out some of that toxicity, and since gturner was the biggest contributor to that atmosphere, into the Violet Room he went. From here, the choice is his.
