Dude, this is the stupidest thing I've read all day, and I've just read some real -worthy shit from EP. You've been here from the beginning. Tell me this is worse than having a staff that goes out of its way to demean the posters like Cassandra and her crew did; or that it's censoring ideas like the thing with the "TKO Is A Shiftless Negger"; or that it's up there with stealing a board from under the board owner.

    :brood:

For what it's worth, I still think this new rep system sucks for all the reasons Async laid out; but people who are calling this some restriction of freedom and stamping their feet away over their inability to blast someone into the red all day every day needs some perspective in life. I've only tried to carpet bomb one or two posters myself, and even then having to dig up every one of their stupid posts 1) got tiresome and 2)took time away from reading shit that was actually worth the time. Not judging anyone, but....really? THAT is so important that one would leave here over it?

My take - the grown ups took a look at how the rep function was being used, realized it was being abused by a small group of idiots, talked it over for quite some time, and finally decided it was time to take away a function that can actually be used to get rid of people in a way other than debate. This is a small board, and if I were running the board I'd want people to feel welcome here, because otherwise eventually its going to shut down. I get that.

The kids got pissy, not just because their favorite toy got taken away, not just because someone was imposing a rule on them for the good of the board, because it was obvious that the powers that be thought they were being idiots.

Lord of the flies isn't a good model to run a community on.

Hey this is Flow, my netbook has died and I'm in no hurry to get another one, or get a new Wordforge password and use my phone.

But if you want to say that I left over rep, feel free. :ramen:

Nah, we need people like Muad - he contributes, even when I don't always agree with him. Hell, Sokar could clean up his act and try to bring conversation to the board instead of just flinging poo and not realize he's doing it at a industrial fan and he's just splattering himself with shit.

You can have an ideology without having a dogma - and that's where lots of people here miss the mark IMO. The easy answers are done. Its the hard ones that are still out there, and that increases how important they are.

I agree that we need people with differing viewpoints. But MD has become a worn-out shell of overused catch-phrases, rep-whining and CSA bullshit. I think he needs a break. It's fine. We all take breaks from things we enjoy.
