I'm not a book reader, but my understanding was that this bit in the books was speculation by other characters who had nothing to do with the plot to kill Bran? Maybe it was indeed Littlefinger. Why would he name Tyrion as the attempted murderer if he knows he lost it to King Robert? At the very least, Littlefinger was not forthcoming with the truth about the dagger, so that puts him squarely in suspicion in my book. The books may converge with the show on this at some point.

Well, we really don't know much about the Night King or the White Walkers, do we? They continually make this spiral pattern that we see around Ned Umber out of their victims body parts. Maybe it some form of Old Gods magic that we don't know about or a sacrifice to The Great Other of some form? I hope we all find out in the last few episodes.

So my understanding is that the legend of Azor Ahai is mostly from the lands of Yi Ti and Asshai and is very similar to the legend of The Last Hero of Westeros. Still, I'm not a book reader so I only know what I've been told by You Tubers and Blu-Ray special features.

In the books it can't be Littlefinger. He's too far away and the attempted assassination took place a few days after Bran fell from the window.

So that means Littlefinger can't have been involved.

People who've read the books confirm this.

If Jon and Dany continue and marry they'd have what's known as an avunculate marriage, which has happened numerous time among royals in our history and is currently legal in Australia, among other places. :chris:

Just watched it again and the scene where Bronn is in the brothel with 3 women... the ladies are talking about the Lannister soldiers they know that we’re killed or injured in the Loot Train Battle last season.... One of them asks “Do you remember Eddie... the ginger? Well he got his eyelids burned off!”

She’s talking about the Lannister soldier played by Ed Shereen!

    I'm reviewing this so.

My major impression from this one is that Dany's wanton cruelty has caught up with her. This is key. Show has depicted her as a hero. Now with the perfect storm of Sam/Snowgaryan/dragon roast, she seems utterly fucked.

Scene with her and Jon riding dragons is significant. This is their "happy moment" on screen to make us understand what they're losing, showing motivation for getting back, etc.

Other thing, Cersei stripped of her last remaining redeeming qualities. Hiring Bron to kill Jaime (Tyrion is understandable) makes her a comic book villain.

Most of episode is setup with witty soundbites but this isn't a Lost vibe, it feels like the producers have a plan, know where they are going, and will seal the deal.

Part of s7 felt like they were stuck waiting for new material now they know Georgie will never get his fat thumb out of his arse so they have to go at it themselves and this is their job, they aren't paralyzed by their own greatness.

Sorry for bad English this is just short cliffnotes.

Please respond if you have input.

This is my humble review. Was tasked with the pilot by the coordinator, Billie. Now it's up. I work slow nowadays because I don't do lazy recaps (and because I'm growing old and intellectually feeble.) I'll be polishing it a little but:

So... Anybody think Sansa is being "direspectful" to Dany? While there is a little shade being thrown, I really can't blame Sansa. Jon told Dany that Northerners won't accept a southern ruler. Did she think that she'd ride in with 2 dragons and everyone was going to kiss her ass? After everything that House Targaryan has done to House Stark? Did Dany learn nothing in Mereen? People give Tyrion a lot of shit over the last few years, but other than that plot to kidnap a wight last year, I feel like his advice has been wise.

First and foremost, Dany owed Sansa an apology for her ancestor killing Sansa's. Just like the one she gave Jon. She claims that she knows what her father was... She needs to prove it to her subjects.

Dany and Jon both need to work on their PR department.

Dany is operating like she's dealing with people she's dealt with in the past (or how she'd deal with people if she were in King's Landing): opponents. She needs The North as an ally and should change her approach accordingly.

Plus she's arrogant. She's never been dealt a defeat. She seems to always come out on top. She's probably thinking if Sansa doesn't bend the knee she will just have one of her dragons eat Sansa.

Why has Tyrion been making so many mistakes lately?

He was very clever in the early seasons but he’s been messing up a lot ever since Mereen.

He thought he had worked out a good solution with the slave masters but they attacked anyway.

He was wrong about the decision to attack Casterly Rock and they lost High Garden because of it.

He was the one who came up with the dumb plan to capture a wight and bring it to Cersei. Not only did it not convince her but they lost a dragon too... and that actually gave the Night King his opportunity to smash the Wall.

Is this going somewhere or do the show writers just not know what to do with the character since outpacing GRRM’s source material?

And he had that off screen conversation with Cersei that supposedly convinced her to join forces. Whatever he was promised or told was clearly a lie. Why would he believe her so easily?

I assume the show writers know what they are doing since Sansa even called him out on it. But it seems like something changed with the character lately.

I thought the opinion that Tyrion has crapped the bed was overblown, but i rewatched Season 2 in the off season and he really was awesome back then. He has certainly lost something since his family tried to have him killed... but all in all, i think his advice to Danny has been wise.

They were always going to attack no matter what. Deep down I think he knew that but his way bought them time to get Danaerys back to Meereen.

He had bad intel on the worth of Casterly Rock & im still convinced that someone in Dany’s Group has betrayed her and is sharing info with Cersei. I believe it is either Tyrion himself or Varys.

Yeah... that sucked. That plot along with the bickering between Sansa and Arya ruined season 7 IMHO.

The reunion between him & Sansa was so interesting. When he seemed upset about Sansa getting the fuck out of dodge and leaving him there, I was wondering what it was he expected her to do... stay around and get hanged too? But then it occurred to me that he’s not sure that Sansa didn’t kill Joffrey and framed him for it. That’s when he said the line about people underestimating Sansa and all ending up dead. Tyrion thinks Sansa killed Joffrey!! And Sansa seems content to let him keep thinking it.

Well, I was right, Dany knows now, and she didn't flinch at the incest, but boy, did her lips curl when she sensed the threat to her power.

For a second I thought she was going to shank him right there on the spot.

    "It's my throne!!!!" [IMG]

And she got mad again when Sansa started talking about the North.

Tormund: "Is the giant woman still here?" "Do you want to know why they call me Giantsbane?" If he doesn't survive the series I'll be pissed.

The whole episode was basically them removing plot armor because you know lots of characters are going to die heroically.

We really needed these first two episodes. I'm glad we didn't start the season off with the battle right away.

The war room scene gave me chills. Many of the meetings were long overdue.

Arya gets her shaft. And then gets a very different type of shaft.

Jorah, Brienne, Tormund, Podric, Beric, Edd, Davos, Grey Worm, Gendry, Varys, and Theon could all potentially die. These are all the folks who don't really have much purpose beyond this fight. I guess Lyanna Mormont, Missandei, and Gilly are also possible candidates.

I think Bran will also die. Or do some crazy time travel shit. I think Melisandre may return at the last moment to join the fight. Maybe she'll bring a ton of fire priests and priestesses with her. I actually think they will defeat the Night King and kill him. That's just a wild hunch. Viserion will also go down.

Folks who have to survive this fight because the Iron Throne plot has not yet been resolved: Dany, Jon, Arya, Sansa, Jamie, Tyrion... and the Hound needs to survive for Clegane Bowl.

Sam will survive to write the story of Game Of Thrones. He's the GRRM of the world.

I enjoyed this episode much more than the first. They had something to tell us about each of the meetings in this one, whereas the previous one just seemed to consist of meaningful glares -- which meant something because we know the story, but it was just milking that story rather than adding to it. This one was amazing in turning each meeting into a great scene, interesting character moments, and satisfying plot points.

I was going to say that Gendry finally gave Arya his spear... and she got a weapon too!

Was I the only guy who felt extremely uncomfortable watching Arya's nude scene? She practically grew up right in front of us on this show. I get that she wanted to know what it was like but I did not want to see that. I looked away when I saw side-boob. :shep:

Maisey's been doing some fun cheescake publicity photos now that she's all grown up. I'm all for it. She's sort of the Alyson Hannigan of the show.
