And Starfield! Not only does Starfield push a round-Earth agenda by depicting the Earth an an oblate spheroid, they also label Pluto as a planet, which is just flat-out factually incorrect.

And Metroid, the worst offender of all. I sit and play for hours, thinking I'm a badass dude in yellow power armor, then get to the end and, surprise! Samus was a woman under that power armor the whole time! They essentially forced me to be trans!

No wokeness in video games! No unethical practices in video games!

I’m telling you these manchilds seriously only consider completely teenage boy targeted video games to be ‘real’ video games so if you don’t have at least one character with 38GGGs underneath her chain mail bikini armor you aren’t being ‘real’ to the genre and in fact ‘hate’ video games.

As an OG video gamer I hold strong to the position that you don’t get to see a character in a bikini until you beat the game without dying.



And yes. It is fucking cool that the protagonist of one of the best gaming franchises in console history (IMO) turns out to be a woman but does the big reveal have to be that if you beat the game without dying Samus takes her armored suit off and you see her in a bikini?!?!

My sons sometimes reference this company, usually in the context of finding their work low-quality but I barely pay attention.

One thing I have picked up from their occasionally bitching about games and sometimes movies or TV is that apparently there's this thing among creatives that when you interview them about their work they feel obliged to say something unnecessary but inflammatory.

Like, for example, in my world Nolan is the big guy with the Fallout series? It's probably going to be great...but SOMEONE in the production team apparently said something to the effect of "we don't care that some game fans wanted us to just translate the game story to film, we're telling our own story" - as far as I can find the game creators approve this approach, but some folks on Youtube are something regularly get pissed when a creative says, of any fans, "we don't care what you think"...

...and I just come away thinking maybe folks should throw chum in the water like that. Say something vanilla like "we want everyone to enjoy our show" and move along.

Everything I've heard them say about Sweet Baby seems to be either about quality of the game, or something someone with the company said that pissed "gamer" dudes off.

Yes, as an aside, I don't much enjoy how much time they spend in that "dude on Youtube is pissed about something" online world but they're not mine to control. I often hear one of them going on about something that I happen to know is utter bullshit but I seldom engage with it because it's not healthy for me to spend a lot of time telling them "actually here's why you're wrong"

Specifically, my youngest just finished Arkham Knights and literally everything he's told me about the story is a flashing neon sign (to me) that says "you'll hate this game" - now he doesn't claim all the stupid story elements originate with SBI, but the fact that they had some hand in it is - and the equally stupid Suicide Squad game - is enough for him to think "this isn't a coincidence. One thing he did mention is in GK there's dialogue about Red Hood reminding Barara about the Pride parade or something...and he's mentioned some side missions in Spiderman 2 that were similarly "social" - he's not the sort of gamer that actually cares if you come across a pride parade or a gay kiss, he was just annoyed that it seemed forced into gameplay in a way that was (as they say) "for back pats" and not because it mattered to the story or mission.

But he's not an "OMG DEI!" type, more just "can't you be better at it?"

All that said, given the history of gamer outrage, I assume that there's so much smoke now that you'll never find the original fire if there was one - that crowd is deeply suspicious and paranoid about stuff like this so they will always be mad about what they assume SBI did whether or not they actually did that.
