If push comes to shove, I'll take my chances with an Idaho jury. Let's just say I don't lose any sleep over the prospect. That all assumes that the cops ever get called in the first place- know what I'm sayin'?

Mind you, it has not withstood a challenge to it being constitutional in the courts, but two years ago the Alabama Legislature changed the code to specifically state that if you are found to be justified in using deadly force, you can not be held liable in the civil court system.

It's just added insurence. In Tennesee, the gun you used (make and caliber) on the range part of the CCW test is on record. If you're carrying another gun, you go down to the range while a CCW class is going on, pay your moola (it was only $30 when I did it), and go out and re-qualify with that gun. It's not on official record or anything, but the Range has it on their record...and if you ever have to end up in court, they'll come and testify on your behalf that yes...he is in fact qualified to use that particular gun.

I wish TN limited civil liability, but it doesn't. That's not gonna happen while Memphis has... certain demographics whose family vote for certain people. :(

My personal belief is that .45ACP provides MORE than enough stopping power in most cases, and the increase in stopping power that 10mm provides over .45ACP in no way, shape, or form justifies the ridiculous increase in cost.

But that's just my opinion. Your mileage my vary.

Well, for the time being I'm carrying a .357 anyways.

While I certainly have no beef with the .357Mag cartridge (I own more than one gun in that caliber), and you must include my statement about my J-Frame, but...

You have, what? Five rounds? Six?

Federal's 9mm 115gr +P+ load is only 50fps slower and has only 60 fewer ft lbs of energy than the traditional .357Mag 125gr JHP round, and in a Glock 26 you get 13+1.

A small loss in stopping power for a huge gain in firepower.

You are, of course, right about that.

That said, when I carry this 640... even I don't know I have it! I can stick it in my pants pocket, grab and go!

And, thanks to Glock's design, there's a nifty feature. If I'm carrying a 26, I have a +2 Pierce grip extension on the weapon bringing me up to 15+1. But, just because I believe in a spare, I'll drop a Glock 17 mag in my pocket, also with a +2 Pierce grip extension for an additional 19 rounds.

I can do the same with a 27. 11+1 in the gun and then a Glock 22 mag for an additional 17.

Also true. I have a very, very old suede Safariland IWB holster for my 637. I just drop it in my strong-side pants pocket and take off.

Do you know a place a civilian can buy this ammo at a better price?

Nope. I've never looked because I just use my two LE-only suppliers for Federal products.

Just figured I'd ask. I've been looking but I can't find anyone else, and I that ammo is much cheaper than Hydrashock per round at any of the gun stores around here, or online, in the 20 round boxes I can find online.

Oh well, I just ordered 10 boxes...

Elwood, do you think it's ever posible to have enough Ammo?

Elwood, what do you think the best commercially available loadout for a .40 S&W is right now?

Well, what part of Idaho? There's a gulf of difference between Boise and, say, Star or Nampa or Emmett.

I'm going to be honest with you about something. I haven't carried a weapon chambered in .40S&W in years. The PD and SO still issue 155gr Federal HST. It was the bee's knees a couple of years ago and I assume it would still be at least adequate.

Don't do it. Like .40, novelty shit isn't worth it. Stick to the tried and true. With the exception of .22LR if you can't put the word NATO behind it, avoid it.
