I liked the bit where Richard asked Hurley to tell him what the island was. Like that was going to happen!

I'm wondernig whether they are going to reach the point where Desmond has made them all happy in alterna-world and then 'reality' will re-assert itself and it'll all be very sad... :PGT:

I have a sneaking suspicion that Desmond just arranged for Jack to fix Locke in alterna-verse, though why Locke needs to be fixed there if he's dead in the Prime Line.

Alternately, maybe it was necessary to make him dead in both?

No, Desmond was actually just really pissed off because the MiB (who he thought was Locke) pushed him down the well.

Pretty sure he's just giving Locke his near death experience so he can remember. - as Locke didn't have anyone to love on the island, he couldn't hook the two of them up.

I really liked the last two episodes, particularly the one with Desmond. This is a nice change from the rest of the season, where most of the episodes just seemed like filler.

Was also very happy that they killed Ilana. Never liked her.

Haven't felt like commenting on every episode recently.

    [spoilers]
Dropping like flies now. Obviously nearing the end.

The Jin/Sun death scene was done alright, I guess.

Interesting that emotionless Sayid was somehow able to find a dispassionate, objective reason to take the bomb and run off to save everyone else. I guess Hurley is a pretty good swimmer. I bet he floats real good.

What the fuck was Sawyer's plan? Just get Smokey Locke in the water, he said to Jack. What was supposed to happen then? I was expecting Jack to climb down into that sub and say "OK, he's in the water. Now what?" Oh, well. Never mind. Plan 'B' was to abandon Claire with Smokey in the middle of a gun fight anyway. :wtf:

Pointless, unceremonious death for pilot man, whatever the fuck his name was. So now the sub has sunk and there's nobody who can fly a plane. I'm wondering now how anyone is supposed to get off of the island. Maybe that sail boat?

And Smokey's plan was to get everyone in an enclosed space to kill them all at once? That seems a bit flimsy. How mahy chances has he had to do that in the various Dharma facilities before now?

And if Widmore put the explosives on the plane, what the fuck have Ben and Richard been up to? They were headed to one of their camps to get a bunch of grenades or something so they could blow up the damned plane.

The alternate timeline crap still seems pointless. Yeah, Jack is noticing how many people from his Oceanic flight he seems to be bumping into. Big friggin' deal.

I was kinda hoping Sun and Jin would be the only ones to survive. One, they're the only ones who I think really deserve it. Two, they're the only characters left (besides Hurly) I even like any more..

All I have to say is that Jin and Sun are horrible parents.

What about a "Jin you have to go raise our daughter?"

I mean Jin's mother was a whore, his father is a poor fisherman noone talks to, Sun's father is an evil corporate mob boss who both Jin and Sun hate.... but don't worry about the kid, she'll be fine. Japan must have some grade A orphanages!

And how many times has Jin almost died in the water? 10? 15?

I'm betting he uses the Dharma Shark to swim to the surface!

We're supposed to think Jack will be the next protector of the island, but it seems pretty clear that they're misleading us on that. Among the Oceanic survivors who are still alive, Hurley seems like too obvious of a choice because he's likeable. Kate's name was crossed out, and she's on death's door anyhow. Claire is fucking nuts, and may fall back in league with Smokey now that her "friends" have abandoned her. That just leaves Sawyer as the unlikely bait-and-switch winner by default.

That assumes only the Oceanic people were candidates. There is still Desmond, with his resistance to the island's EM radiation, plus Alpert the immortal and Ben "what about me?" Linus. Desmond is another one I rule out for being too likeable and obvious, plus he'll bail on the island in a heartbeat to get back to Penny. Seems like Alpert would have been evaluated and eliminated from consideration long ago. Linus is another one who may just be unlikely enough to be correct.

Honestly, I'm gonna be a bit pissed if it turns out to be Jack, Hurley, or Desmond.

You want to know what someone at Lostpedia noticed?

Kate's name was crossed out at the cave, but not the lighthouse.

Someone asked Darlton if it was a production error, he said 'maybe, or maybe Jacob knew that MIB was visiting the cave and he wanted to through him off his trail."

    I don't know. I think production error.

But then again Jack was suppose to die in the pilot, and Kate be the leader.
But then again that was WAY EARLY into development.
    So who knows...

Maybe, but they'd be more likely to use a Korean one, since that's where they're from.

[spoilers]They best not kill off Desmond. Someone has to live happily ever after in the end, and after Sun/Jin, Desmond is the most likable IMO.

Spot on about Sayid, who somehow, out of nowhere, sets aside his newly-evil ways to sacrifice himself for the rest of the main characters. Although perhaps the Locke-Monster's less-than-total control of him was shown in his not killing Desmond in the well.

I'm thinking that Jack is THE CANDIDATE, unless he dies. Yes, they're leading us that way, but I'm not seeing a satisfying ending otherwise, unless it's maybe Kate, and jack stays on the island with her.

I'm sad about Sun & Jin, as I wanted them to live and escape the island. And I'm rather ticked about the unceremonious way they offed Frank Lepidus. No one even asked about him on the beach after they escaped from the sinking sub! Well, -1 pilot!
    [/spoilers]

What I *would* like to see is the Locke-Monster beat the living shit out of Charles Whitmore! Maybe somehow Whitmore could weaken the Locke-Monster enough to allow whomever turns out to be the hero to kill it!

This has been a terribly uneven season and I still think we're all in for a big disappointment, but I have to admit when Hurley started losing it at the end of this week's episode I got a big lump in my throat.

So, we got background on Jacob and the MIB last night...

All-in-all, an OK ep, but not exactly earth-shattering, IMO.

Unlike others, I am enjoying this season but they can't possibly tie up EVERY question (I assume they don't intend to)

I bought the first four seasons (at an astounding price at a movie gallery closing) with the intention of rewatching them after I've seen the finale but I'm watching the extras now and I'm reminded how very many threads came and went along the way without a clear outcome.

Was there any mention of a year the pregnant woman arrived on the island? Or an era? It all looked vaguely "ancient Greek".

Not explicitly, but given that they were speaking Latin according to the subtitles that they used for five seconds, presumably sometime in the heyday of the Roman Empire.

To me, this episode answered a few questions but not really ones I cared about.

I did like that "full circle" moment when the Adam-and-Eve skeletons were revealed to be MIB and his Mom.

But I can't help wondering if that was planned, or a "brilliant" retcon idea that came to them as they wrote this ep.

    Cynical? Me?!

I assume that tons of things that happen in the later episodes that appeared to tie into something from early on were essentially retcon epiphanies - which I don't really mind.

I'd rather them look for opportunities to tie up a lose thread than just forget it (which they've done a lot too - of necessity since there were so damned many loose threads)
