I have always maintained that those are bad laws, subverting the otherwise steadfast opposition to censorship in today's Germany. It is one part of democracy where we have learned the wrong lesson from the horrors of the Third Reich. It is hard to mobilise public opposition against these laws, because the people whose freedoms they infringe are the most wretched scum of the Earth. But that should not restrict free speech. I have always supported the idea that even the most wretched Nazi scum should enjoy free speech, and then be laughed and howled out of the public court, always free to return the next day and be laughed out again, and again, and again, until they die a wretched little whimpering death drenched in their own hatred.

So let me say this to Poodle: Your rights have been infringed, and this is an injustice. You too should enjoy the right to expose yourself as the wretched Nazi scum you are and die your own free little hate-drenched death, and it breaks my heart that my government is too cowardly to help you do that.

(And yes, I am fully aware that the video purportedly uses NS regalia to indict the political opponent, rather than affirm national socialism. But when you call out school children who voice a political opinion and paint them as enemies of democracy, it is clear whose hearts those regalia speak to; it's not the kids'.)

What they are is young, naive, and astonishingly ignorant of Constitutional history, theory and law.

Which shouldn't surprise anyone, since Constitutional Law isn't something you get in high school, or college outside of law school. And Civics / Social Studies in public schools is no longer taught in any meaningful sense. Any topic that could cause controversy is either avoided altogether or is so watered down and neutered as to be worthless.

Unfortunately, they've come off on TV like teens throwing a tantrum because Dad took their cell phone privileges away for missing curfew.

Just as unfortunate, they and their parents have allowed the liberal lamestream media to use them to push this made-for-tv Children's Crusade spectacle.

If all you pay attention to is MSNBC, you might get the impression that the Parkland brats are "winning" and have "changed the world."

In reality, their 15 minutes are up. After the liberal media gets done wringing every last ratings point they can get out of them, they'll return to their old lives, where the biggest thing they have to worry about is how they'll get laid on prom night.

One useful thing to come from this - the Left's real agenda has been exposed. "Common sense gun control" has been exposed as empty rhetoric. The real goal is to repeal the 2nd amendment. Something that will never, ever happen. But that's what the Left wants, as expressed by the ex-SCOTUS justice.

Yeah, the kids haven't gotten any major retail outlets to change their policies regarding guns or managed to stay in the news more than a couple of days after the shooting. They've totally been forgotten by everyone except for the leftist media.

Dick's Sporting Goods made their decision to avoid negative publicity, not specifically because these teens were caterwauling. If the shooter had actually purchased the AR from Dick's, the gesture would have been more meaningful.

They've been in the news this long because liberal outlets have been using them to manufacture stories and ratings, not because of any level of genuine newsworthiness.
