Oh and just because you send money to the NRA, you gotta sent to the NRA-ILA as well. They are the ones that work directly with congress.

I'm contacting them every day. Heck, I'm even sending original letters with a picture of my family included. I'm considering flying to DC, but I will probably just end up visiting local offices.

I just had a jacked up thought: Harry Reid may be our best chance on this one. :wtf:

I may call my local US representative, but it won't do any good. He's a freshman liberal Democrat and will do whatever Nancy tells him to do. :garamet:

Yeah. None of the people I voted for won and all my representatives are liberal socialists. The last time I wrote was about Earl Blumenauer's irresponsible position on Social Security and he politely told me to go fuck myself. Although Portland is a fairly gun-friendly town. Maybe I should suck it up and write a couple letters.

I believe that if a ban somehow makes it through and they say anything close to "hand in your weapon" we will start seeing government and civilian people shooting each other over it.

I've heard from my representative and he said he won't be voting for any restrictions. Most of the reps in Florida are saying that. Our senators have been silent though.

Oh and I recently got a offered a deal on a thousand round case of 55gr 223 for $550 and a thousand round case of 124gr 9mm for $300. Yeah I used the word "deal".

Still waiting on both of these orders, which isn't suprising. The magazines from Bass Pro are still backordered and the shipping date on the other 18 I ordered has been pushed back to April.

I did score some PMags, though (or I will once they get here next week). One of my coworkers has an FFL and runs a small side business selling guns and supplies. Today he told me that he has a shipment of 70 PMags coming in next week and asked if I was interested. I told him to set aside 10 of them for me.

Forgot to mention the price: Only $15 each.

Once I get those, plus the 20 I have on order, I'll have around 50 AR magazines.

If I had interesting firearms, I would have this many mags for them. But since I have no interesting firearms, I therefore have no magazines for them.

Indeed. A Marine sniper I once knew pointed out that Lee Harvey Oswald didn't need no silly magazines.

I've got seven or eight thirty round, and one twenty round AR mags, and I don't feel a particular urge to get anymore myself.

OTOH, I did get to thinking, what if they re-instate the AWB (doubt it, but it could happen), they grandfather in currently owned firearms, but make it so you can't get them repaired if something breaks? I've got an extra lower parts kit, but was thinking I probably also should get a spare bolt assembly. Well, I was looking online, and they're just as scarce right now as everything else...so I ended up getting a "bolt rehab" parts kit instead for 30 bucks. It comes with the extractor, gas rings, buffer, O ring, the whachacallit pin that keeps the firing pin from falling out, the various springs...everything you would need for a bolt except for the firing pin and the bolt its self. I'll probably get a couple extra firing pins, but the last thing that would break on a bolt is the bolt its self...right?

Speaking of, the buffer that came with the kit is black. That's the mil-spec one right? The one currently on my bolt is blue.

That's why I'm buying: To have spares in the event of a magazine size restriction (which, at this point, I see being more likely than another AWB). I don't plan on even taking most of these new magazines out of the wrapper unless the older magazines start to fail.

Back in 1994, when you could get them for $4-$5 a piece, I bought about 50 AK magazines for the same reason. Most of them are locked away in a 20mm ammo can.

Take a look at Del-Ton bolts. Not pretty

The buffer should be metal and a pale gold-ish in color. Do you mean the extractor? The correct color for the extractor on the M4geries should be blue and use a 5 coil spring. The black extractor with the 3 coil spring is for the AR15 and M16 IIRC

Oh and I found out our new local gun store (Shooters World) is having its grand opening this weekend. The soft opening was a few months ago. Anyways they have been stock piling stock. So come Saturday morning they should be flush with ammo and firearms. At least for an hour or so.

I'm talking about that little plastic (I think) part that sits behind the extractor spring. Is that not called a buffer? I'll count how many coils are in the spring when I get home.

BTW, I may have already mentioned how hard it is to find Winchester Value Pack 9mm, .40, and .45 ammo at Wal-Mart here recently and even not so recently. Last time I had checked, they were out of everything and had gotten a large delivery that very morning.

Well, it turns out that a very large gun store/range in Charlotte has been bogarding them all. They have feelers out at all the local Wal-Marts, and whenever a shipment is expected in, they have been sending someone over to wait for it, buy every last box, and then re-package and sell it at a large mark-up at the range.

Apparently Wal-Mart finally figured out what was going on and has implimented a strict 3 box maximum purchase policy.

If I were buying parts for my non-existent guns, the next purchase would be a threaded barrel for the MAC-11 I don't own.

Cobrays do. Masterpiece Arms sidecockers come with a cammed barrel that allows the mounting of a "safety device" that resembles a suppressor.

Are you talking about an ACTUAL M-11 or a Masterpiece arms semi-auto remake (and, for the record, I have an MPA M-10 topcock)

Yeah that little plastic nub in the extractor which sits in the bolt. The reason the Army switched to a blue nub is to eaisly identify which springs had been upgraded to the 5 coil spring.

As for the Wally World situation, thats why they instituted the 3 box maximum across the nation.

Ah. Well, I reckon the 3 coil spring will work fine since the AR is a mid-length.

It should for the time being. If you start to have extraction issues just swap it out. Just keep in mind that it may wear out faster as well.

They are fun to shoot, it takes some time to get used to the weight (and the iron sights for the top cock) but the accuracy is great. I got tighter groupings with mine than the Para-ord 1911 I had at the time.

And to the people going "Ehrmahgerd $1 per round for .223, ROBBERY!" quit complaining, the bottom shelf .308's cost more, and don't get me started on .50 Beowulf.
