that's a good point. Making it harder to accomplish their mission might make them that much more determined to really do it up right when it is "go time." And thinking way down the road, mass shootings might be less frequent, but when they do occur, they might be "holy shit" horrendous with off-the-charts body counts. Here is why I think this: if the US does a "new Zealand/Australia" and millions of people turn in their guns and ammo people might let their guard down when it comes to "active shooter" drills, law enforcement response times and the firepower to contain a mass shooter, and other factors that could come about if the US had a temporary lull in mass shootings of a political nature. But for the patient hard working nut jobs (the deadliest kind) this could play right into their hands. But according to the left, the US is just like Australia/Japan/etc. so severe gun restrictions would work out just fine for the US!
We've banned AR-15's, oops it turns out most mass shootings aren't carried out by out people using AR-15s, now what?
Shit! Laws cause crime! Maybe the cure to "the pile", is to legalize rape! Oh, wait, we've got a whole country like that, it's called The Vatican. Guess what? They rape more.
You're right. We should pass laws against everything, because having a law against something totally prevents that something from happening.
Well, there's two things there. Either we can admit the kids are off the fucking chain and slap 'em silly, or we can take away the sharp objects so at least they can't hurt each other as easily. Now, if you want to argue that psychopathy is an integral part of the US population at a rate that is different to other nations, go right ahead. Otherwise, hand over the catapult and you might get it back at once you've shown you're mature enough to handle it responsibly.
Jesus fuck dude, how big WAS the truck that ran over your head? You never used to be this fucking stupid.
Absolutely. There's no argument in play which actually holds up in favour of an armed society and the best refrain I've heard is the one @oldfella1962 habitually uses, that the genie is out of the bottle and can't be pushed back in. I don't believe that given the comparatively high success rate for gun bans in the developed world but the idea is ingrained tat guns are synonymous with "freedom" no matter the evidence to the contrary and there's massively powerful and corrupt vested interests promoting that idea. But let's be honest here with regard to the OP, there is no situation in which the hypothetical discussion of a safeguard against tyranny is ever actually going to be acted on in a meaningful way, not unless @Paladin joins the ranks of those who have defended freedom by becoming a mass shooter which is something we've seen happen on numerous occasions. It shouldn't be a surprise that we should see a progression from the sort of mindset which actually believes the 2A line to acting on the associated paranoia.
Not only that, it's not enough that these fucks are talking gun confiscation out one side of their mouth. They're doing it while they talk socialism out the other. That's a NO. GO. Molon Labe, bitches.
Most of those claims are plain false. To point out just one example that I know the most about, Germany before Hitler had very strict gun control, and Hitler loosened those laws considerably.
Gee, it's almost like a government intent on oppression will find any reason to keep the masses down and guns have almost no effect, especially now that drone attacks exist!
If only the Injuns had had guns, they could've stopped Abraham Lincoln's mass execution in 1862 and the Trail of Tears! Snowflakes.
Oh, and the Japanese that went willingly to the internment camps and trusted wypipo their friends to take care of their property are all a buncha soyboy beta cucks for not defending their sizeable farm land, huh?
