Hyperbole much? Why would people be more inclined to leave when Lanz sells the board than when Aurora, Borgs, or Elwood did it? We used to have a history of rotating ownership every couple of years. Kept leadership from getting stale or burned out. I think the last couple years have been proof positive that that was a good tradition and one we should get back to.
I think this may well be true. And wonder if that is the real motivation behind those so eager to "help". The only thing I don't get is why. Sans WF we won't re-group on a new BBS, Facebook is a poor substitute, and chat is a dead medium. Why kill Wordforge?
You've got to be kidding me. This board has gone through a handful owners so far, and at least the first three were more radically different from each other than any reasonably likely candidate for the next ownership can ever be from Lanzman. Why would anyone leave over an ownership change now when they never did before?
Dialogue hasn't been possible with you Clyde for several years. Its a choice. For example, you could have just chosen to respond without the passive agressive troll. But you are an immature asshole, so you went that route. Next time, just respond.
Dialogue is always possible Clyde. But if you come at it as Clyde 2.0, I'm afraid you've lost any respectability required for people to take the response seriously. A larger threat to Wordforge is the impression that mods are abusing their position to troll the membership. Are you prepared to really have a discussion about what is harmful to Wordforge? More importantly, do you care enough to take steps aimed at supporting Wordforge instead of your ego?
So, as Demiurge suggested, you lack the maturity for this discussion. Clyde 2.0 should be fired from the staff.
At this point would it be inappropriate to jokingly say "Dance monkey, dance!" Keep in mind I'm asking as Clyde 4.7.
This is just such a bizarre comment. As if anyone's participation at WF depends on who the current owner is. Think about this: Aurora owned the board for a little over a year. Borgs about a year. Elwood 3 years. Lanz is getting close to 5 years as owner. I don't blame him for getting burned out, but it's been obvious for a while now he's no longer interested in doing much. Why would it be so awful to pass the torch?
Honest answer - Yeah sounded weird to me too. But I suspect there is more than a little bit of truth in the sentiment. Nothing owner specific but as many more eloquent members have pointed out, BBS's are fading away. Surviving mainly as feedback forums for popular sites. Lemme put it another way, what if I bought the board?
And now we have the method to his madness. By appearing to be an absolute mess as a moderator, Clyde hopes to improve Lanzman's image. Of course, the only way that works in the end, is for Lanz to fire Clyde.
Dude, now you're just getting creepy paranoid. Go back to just being angry about donkeys and elephants. Or lighten up and have a laugh! The internet really isn't serious business.
