Nobody is defending the asshole settlers in the west bank last time I checked, kid. Even the Israeli government is busting up their marches for being too racist. Are you happy now?

    I am.

My take on the West Bank is very simple.

If the Palestinians want a 2 state solution, that's great - but that means they take the Jews who live there. As I've already stated up thread.

Why exactly is it that no Jew is allowed to live in a Palestinian state, when 2 million Muslim Arabs live in Israel? They have their own representation in the Knesset. They have a Supreme Court Justice - the one who lead the case that Netanyahu was a criminal, by the way.

Can you imagine that in a Muslim country? Of course you can't. Because they are all Sharia law, and Sharia law doesn't allow non-Muslims to be Judges. At all.

There's a consequence to losing all these wars the Arabs keep starting. In this case, they aren't able to stop the Jews right of return.

Remember that part where the Muslim Arabs ethnically cleansed the Jews out of Jerusalem when they had control?

And Jerusalem is the single holiest site in Judaism. Every practicing religious Jew in the world, ethnically semite or not, prays to Jerusalem.

    Here's a reminder:

According to Raphael Israeli, 58 synagogues were desecrated or demolished in the Old City, resulting in the de-Judaization of Jerusalem.[44][45][46] Oesterreicher, a Christian clergyman and scholar, wrote, “During Jordanian rule, 34 out of the Old City’s 35 synagogues were dynamited.” [47] The Western Wall was transformed into an exclusively Muslim holy site associated with al-Buraq.[48] 38,000 Jewish graves in the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives were systematically destroyed (used as pavement and latrines),[49][50] and Jews were not allowed to be buried there.[44][45] This was all in violation of the Israel-Jordan Armistice Agreement Article VIII - 2 "...; free access to the Holy Places and cultural institutions and use of the cemetery on the Mount of Olives;...."[51] Following the Arab Legion's expulsion of the Jewish residents of the Old City in the 1948 War, Jordan allowed Arab Muslim refugees to settle in the vacated Jewish Quarter.[52] Later, after some of these refugees were moved to Shuafat, migrants from Hebron took their place.[53] Abdullah el Tell, a commander of the Arab Legion, remarked:

For the first time in 1,000 years not a single Jew remains in the Jewish Quarter. Not a single building remains intact. This makes the Jews' return here impossible [54]

In his memoir's Col. El Tell outlined his decision to attack Jewish Quarter:

"The operations of calculated destruction were set in motion. I Knew that the Jewish Quarter was densely populated with Jewish populations who caused their fighters a good deal of interference and difficulty. I embarked, therefore on shelling of the quarter with mortars creating harassment and destruction. Only for days after our entry into Jerusalem, the Jewish Quarter become their graveyard. Death and destruction reigned over it. As the down of May 28th was about to break, the Jewish Quarter emerged in convulsive cloud-a cloud of death and agony"[55]

In 1952, Jordan proclaimed that Islam was to be the official religion of the kingdom, and according to Israeli professor Yehuda Zvi Blum, this was applied in Jordanian-held Jerusalem.[56]

In 1953, Jordan restricted Christian communities from owning or purchasing land near holy sites, and in 1964, further prohibited churches from buying land in Jerusalem.[43] These were cited, along with new laws impacting Christian educational institutions, by both British political commentator Bat Ye'or and the mayor of Jerusalem Teddy Kollek as evidence that Jordan sought to "Islamize" the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.[57]

In order to counter the influence of foreign powers, who had run the Christian schools in Jerusalem autonomously since Ottoman times, the Jordanian government legislated in 1955 to bring all schools under government supervision.[58] They were allowed to use only approved textbooks and teach in Arabic.[58] Schools were required to close on Arab national holidays and Fridays instead of Sundays.[58] Christian holidays were no longer recognised officially, and observation of Sunday as the Christian Sabbath was restricted to Christian civil servants.[56] Students, whether Muslim or Christian, could study only their own religion.[58] The Jerusalem Post described these measures as "a process of Islamization of the Christian Quarter in the Old City.[59]

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamization_of_Jerusalem

So ethnic cleansing via mass expulsion and constant bombardment, cultural genocide by the destruction of virtually every holy site in the most sacred city in the world to their religion, and more cultural genocide by forced education and the destruction of native language.

    This will end well.

Netanyahu Threatens to Reduce Beirut to Rubble If Hezbollah Increases Attacks

    https://www.democracynow.org/2023/1...irut_to_rubble_if_hezbollah_increases_attacks

I try to tell people that Netanyahu is Israel's Donald Trump. He is a hard right strong man who bullies his way around others. This is what he does. It's what his administration has always done. He responds to thrown rocks with tanks, just like any young Palestinian boy already knows.

It's not that what these people do is right, it's that what Israel does is genocidal revenge.

Bad taste perhaps, but he's mocking what he considers to be a hoax, not making an actual comment about dead babies. He didn't deserve to be murdered for it, and there's a real possibility that that's what happened here.

I seriously doubt he was targeted, but even if he was I'd say such an attack would be "legitimate and moral, exactly like the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising." :bergman:

I see people making so many worse comments here. Perhaps they would agree to have themselves and their families bombed to make it even? Eh, it's just false outrage anyway. These people don't give a shit, they just need talking points to defend a genocide. It's the classic "he was no angel" defense like when cops murder black men.

This article from a few years ago makes the point clearly: looking into what Israel does to Palestinians is antisemitism.

Netanyahu accuses ICC of anti-Semitism in pursuit of war crimes probe

I'm sorry, did you want me to engage in some performative condemnation and posturing? Are you trying to enforce some sort of message discipline today? :bergman:

That's such a Republican thing for him to say, isn't it?

GOP congressman: "Black people are violent and deserve what they get!"
GOP congressman when called out for being bigot: "I believe that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said it best..."

It's such a grossly transparent display.
