I give you a free pass as you were not here for the million and one discussions on this topic. The big problem is there is no reliable way to sort out the terrorists from the simply supportive to terrorists from the obstensively "normal" muslim. One can go from one phase to another at any time and often do. Hell, even mythical "good muslims" frequently have terrorism supporting children. So the best way to handle this is to keep all the suspect followers of that evil, violent ideology out where ever possible. This is called the Japanese approach and it is 100% effective as long as it is faithfully followed. No muslims means no Islamic terrorism.
So, my Pakistani friend who was born here and shares the same values as I do can become radicalized at any time?
One group in 30 years who was quickly caught sucks but sounds better then endless muslim jihad to me.
Are they speaking out about radical muslim terrorism? Do they own a van? These are things we'd need to know before rendering a decision.
I know my friend very well, we've had several really good political and philosophical discussions, he's not that type of person.
In short, there is absolutely no reliable way, much less a cost effective way, to screen them all plus, yes, radicalization happens all the damn time. So the best approach is to avoid the problem entirely. No one has a right to immigrate, at all. Societies can and should simply say "we don't want you" to problematic groups which have shown difficulties assimulating. That is called good policy. Furthermore, anyone who shows criminality or simply that they are not sufficiently adapting should be simply thrown out and told "we gave you a chance, you didn't try hard enough, so now you are not welcome and must leave."
Deporting all the Muslims in the US isn't remotely feasible or Constitutional. And it wouldn't prevent Muslim terrorism; it would increase it. The United States would gain an even worse reputation in the Muslim world and more Muslims would radicalize. And then what? Ah. We kill them! I see.
So basically what it’s stated in post #32. Don’t say anything bad about Muslims or they’ll go crazy and kill us?
We both were taught to be loving, caring, decent human beings. We both love and respect the principles this country was founded on. We have a similar sense of humor. We both love TDK trilogy. We're both mostly libertarian (though I think he's more to the left of me).
Take off your RELIGION OF PEACE LOL blinders for a minute and think here. The US, in an act of unprecedented cruelty, deports millions of people simply for their religious beliefs--or, more accurately, for their insufficient response to terror. If you're a Muslim terrorist, are you going to use this fact as a recruiting tool among disaffected people? This isn't 'saying anything bad about Muslims' or Islam. This is a mass deportation we're talking about. It's not the religion of PEACE OMG LOL that would drive people to terrorism, it would be the fact they're fucking pissed off. And rightfully so.
He's just a cutting remark or a nifty backpack away from being a terrorrorrorrist, so be careful now.
