Electric cars run on coal. The environmental argument is out the window. What else you got?

Less so every year. Renewables have gone from 13% to 21% in the last 7 years as a percentage of all US energy. The price of solar kw/h has dropped almost 90% in the last 10 years. We can expect renewables to continue to reduce coal, natural gas and nuclear as primary electricity generators. Solar plants are far less expensive now to build than any other form of energy producer for the grid.

    It doesn't, and I don't.

But mocking smug fart-sniffers over their performative "environmentalism" will get me out of bed every day.

1/1000th measures towards a positive are still better than the status quo.

But sure, own the libs because they're only slightly improving things.

Some of us aren't so nihlistic we don't care about anything beyond our own little world. So in the world of objective reality where we care about whether or not we fuck up the planet for the generations that come after the fact that solar power is surging is a fantastic thing.

Why that threatens you I have no idea, but I'm sure it's based in some deep seated broken aspect of your nature.

Far better than that. But he doesn't care, because he is broken, no doubt from childhood, and not only doesn't care if things get better actively wants things to get worse.

He needs the species to fail and die along with him to cover his shortcomings.

Follow the conversation. At issue is the blatant hypocrisy of people who think it's ok to meddle in private transactions some of the time.

You mean, state governments trying to protect their inhabitants? This showed us the real question - the oil lobby is hugely powerful, have paid liars going 24/7, and think they are ENTITLED to selling their wares, period.

These guys have been caught over and over again killing people for their own profits, starting with paying off a major scientist in the 50s to protect leaded gasoline, then lying about their climate initiatives for decades after their own scientists told them that yes, climate change is real and an existential threat if we continued on this path. But hey, they'll be dead, so why not.

Perfomative fart sniffers? No fucking evil con men.

Why did you let them rent your mind? Oh right, because somewhere along the way you decided that the government was the great evil, no matter that it's the corporations that are actively destroying the ecosphere we need to live.

If you're not even-handed about it, you're full of shit. If damaging the ecosphere is an excuse to interfere in purchases, then your electric cars are also done.

Even handed about it? What's the other side of lying to the public about their own scientists conclusion in the late 70s early 80s? This 20 years after they lied about unleaded gasoline that killed millions (the UN estimated over a million people a year worldwide in the 60s and 70s). Same guy that lied about leaded gasoline as the 'foremost expert' (the guy who invented it) also created freon - Thomas Midgely Jr. It's likely he's the biggest killer of all time. But leaded was cheaper than unleaded at the time, so the gas companies paid him to go on speaking tours and before congress.

You know, when they wanted to ban something that was killing large numbers of Americans.

Even handed my ass. There was better ways to do these things. These were just cheap and they wanted to make themselves rich, and they did, no matter the cost. It also dropped IQs several points during that time period.

Which has always been the hole in libertarian conceit - people are often greedy and evil and no, the market doesn't stop them.

The environmental harm angle wasn't working out, so now we're pivoting to whether someone has lied or covered it up. I'm sure Tesla keeps grubby little child slaves front and center in their ads.

No, the paid liars have your brain. Massive climate disruption is happening across the globe. It's going to get worse.

And not very many people on the left support child labor. That's more your thing.

For that part, Elon Musk is your guy now. Tesla is falling off a cliff because of his 'leadership.'

Let's check the Ayn Rand DSM, see if we can help the poor guy with something that speaks his language.

    1. Have you tried hating everyone even more?
    2. How about chain smoking?
    3. Already chain smoking? Chain smoke some more.
    3. How about making a cult, and fucking your acolytes? That's always cheered me up!
    4. Still sad? Fuck, I've got nothing else for ya.
