Reports say the man used a lawfully acquired handgun.

If so, he was subject to the following:
1. Background check
2. Registration
3. 10 day waiting period
4. Selection of guns only certified as safe by the state

So-called assault weapons and high capacity magazines were not used and have been banned here in California for decades.

California's got the left's entire litany of gun control and, apparently, it made not one iota of difference. Nonetheless, I expect a new wave of regulation that will either (1) have no effect while adding even more restrictions, barriers, and burdens to exercise of a Constitutional right, or (2) an attempt at outright abolition of that right.

A high capacity magazine was used according to reports I've heard but they haven't identified it yet.

This shooting doesn't seem to be generating the same level of interest as past shootings. I wonder if that's because it was at a bar playing country western music, so the libtard media doesn't feel any sympathy for the victims? It was a better story for the libtards when the victims were at a gay nightclub in Miami, that dovetailed nicely with several of their narratives.

It's more that it's one more news item in a busy Newsweek and there's gonna be another mass shooting next week to fret about because they all run together by this point.
