I'm uncertain why it is presumed to be "shenanigans" that a given person's wife worked at a firm relevant to the investigation. Or that the whole idea that Fusion was hired by some employee at a campaign related law firm to pick up the dropped thread of oppo research constitutes some huge scandal anyway. Nothing that has come from that angle s anything more than political SOP..so being tangentially connected to it seems, to borrow a word from others, a "nothingburger"

All of the Republican propaganda fronts are attempting to smear the FBI, Mueller, and law enforcement in general and I suspect this is why:

    https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-12-10/the-trump-russia-probe-is-about-to-get-uglier

Seriously, read the Bloomberg article because I suspect it is going to turn out that lots and lots of Republican astroturf groups were involved. We are talking wire fraud, mail fraud, laundering cash from the Kremlin, help in identifying target areas in swing states for the Russian disinformation campaign... The works. It is all unraveling and it isn't limited to Trump as a whole lot of Republican insiders were involved in this act of treason.

Illegal Russian money made its way via 3tdvparties, as is the norm for Putin and his cronies, and flooded key parts of the US election. There will ve maby Republican front groups which help laubder this mobet knowing full well it was illegal Russian money. That Trump engaged on a conspiract to collude with Putin's efforts is a forgone conclusion.

one of my Twitter follows noted that one of the main conduits for Russian money to the GOP tried to give a bunch to W's campaign and he turned it down...for the obvious reason.

I am still quite pessimistic about impeachment or even that the media will run with this like they should. Politics is an area that makes tons of money for the media. If you go after Russians for pumping money into the media stream, which is what they really did, then as the media you have to be aware you are shooting your customers who buy political ads and pay for the fucking circus that is us presidential elections, and to a much lesser extent congress and local elections. Is the media really going to open the box and expose the people paying them to make this media circus a circus?

I don't know. Maybe they are so stupid and high on their own smug they forgot what a fragile house of cards they built, or maybe they are all so backstabbing and greedy they will take it all down while fighting each other for ratings.

At any rate does anyone want any popcorn because I am rooting for Armageddon myself.

Well, it looks like I was wrong. The email thing is just made up nonsense to try to discredit Mueller. Republicans sure are desperate to try discredit this investigation.

On the upside it is great news that Mueller was legally and properly able to get the Trump transition emails from the Geberal Services Organization. Trump's laeyers can falsely claim privilage all they want but those were emails on the government system so they are not private property and the GSA is the controlling agency for them.

The juicy part is many if not most of the Trump big wigs have already testified and now Mueller has the original source material so now he gets to see who else had lied and tried to cover up.

Best tweet about this so far:

If Mueller didn’t follow the law, a court would suppress the evidence so it couldn’t be used. The reason Trump’s lawyers are writing letters to Congress instead of Mueller or a court is because their legal arguments have no merit. https://t.co/6Vy7jwKcY4

The Republicans have been in a state of existential terror ever since Obama was elected.

There's a line from Carl Sagan "anything that's destroyed by the truth deserves to be".

If they're sitting on a ticking bomb that'll wipe out their whole stupid rotten corrupt party, let's set the fucker off.

If that happens, it'll come near the end. Mueller will want to have as much evidence as possible to make it stick.

    http://www.newsweek.com/republicans...tigation-wont-name-new-witnesses-probe-750766

Holy shit, maybe I was right the first time and Trump is panicing. Republicans in the House are moving to prematurely shut down their investigation (Which was a joke as they turned it into a partisan Republican clown car show; the Senate is at least doing an honest job though even there Republican partisans have been trying to undermine the investigation at every turn) and Trump has supposedly told his inner circle he plans on firing Mueller on Friday Dec 22nd.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bl...-would-be-a-mistake-for-trump-to-fire-mueller

John Cornyn, tge second highest ranking Republican in the Senate did say it would be a mistake for Trump to fire Mueller but his support was tepid. Fox, Talk radio, and most of the house Republicans have gone complete feces throwing monkeys mode simply lying and making up lies about Mueller.

It seems with the emails, which are government property and completely legal for Mueller to access, and the information that Mueller is tracing illegal funds from Russia to Republican groups the Tumpanzees are working themselves into a panic. They know Trump did but they are chosing party over country.

Another view is that Mueller has pushed back and threatened to bitch slap most of the Trump administration. If this is true then Mueller is the man.
    ------------
Robert Mueller just pulled an ace from his sleeve, and Donald Trump's team just flinched
What, you thought Special Counsel Robert Mueller was just going to sit back and risk the possibility that Donald Trump might try to fire him? Mueller dropped a bomb on Trump’s entire team on Saturday night, and he did it in public. It came largely in the form of a warning: back off or you’re all immediately going down, because I have far more dirt on all of you than you know. Less than an hour later, the Trump team indeed predictably flinched in equally public fashion.

It all began around around 5pm on Saturday when Axios reported that Mueller has been sitting on fifty thousand emails from the Trump transition team all along. Mueller had kept this a secret, and had tricked Trump’s people into a false sense of security by requesting copies of the emails that he already had. Trump’s people only turned over the non-incriminating emails, and thought they were covered. This means he has a whole lot of people nailed for various crimes. If Trump tries to make a move, Mueller can begin arresting them all before Trump can complete the complicated process of trying to fire him.

Mueller was sending a message that if Trump tried to get him fired, he would immediately make a move on everyone involved in those emails. In the process, Mueller was also hinting that he’s been sitting on incriminating evidence against pretty much everyone involved, likely including Trump’s current White House advisers. It was a tacit demand that Trump’s people find a way to make sure he doesn’t fire Mueller. As Palmer Report explained at the time (link), this move left Trump’s team with only one option: back down, and quickly.

Sure enough, less than an hour later, Donald Trump’s team made an announcement that Trump has no intention of firing Robert Mueller, according to a CNN report (link). This reads like a clear attempt on the part of Trump’s team to signal to Mueller that they can indeed keep Trump under control, and that there’s no need for Mueller to release the proverbial kraken on them. If Trump and his people do end up making any further threatening gestures in Mueller’s direction, look for even more leaks about the other aces Mueller has up his sleeve. He’ll keep taking increasingly damaging warning shots until they back down and let him do his job.

I doubt an organized crime law would ever get used no matter how applicable or how deserving. That said, the big email dust up is that Mueller, completely legelly and without Trump officials knowing already had the full official government email records before any Trump cronies testified so any who lied have already been caught as Mueller already knew the answers before he ever asked them the questions officially.

I am willing to bet there are a lot of them who now could be charged with lying to the FBI and that really does show how far the Trump Russia conspiracy and cover up has went.

In all honesty I hate the fuck out of trump, but I am not going to jail if he isn't. Life goes on for most people, and we really should have people to do things about this, but oh my fucking God the government is a bunch of dishonest scumbags. That was around long before trump and will be here long after. No one is going to be burning down the streets over any of this except perhaps a couple of loony birds who are probably going to get shot by the cops for their efforts. I have got better things to go to jail for than if Donnie little hands does not get punished properly for playing grab ass with the Russians.

Oh, and we don't have democracy in this country. It is a representative government. Learn what you are getting all up in arms about at least.

I know I keep bringing it up, but I keep thinking of all that "ra ra!!", flag waving bullshit of the Reagan 80's, and how all that GI Joe, Rambo, Red Dawn, Missing In Action horseshit was rammed down all our throats, and any critique of ANYTHING was met with "if you don't like it, go to Russia!", and now we find out it was all fake, it was all hot air, it was all nothing, and the Republicans were willing to be treasonous little worms all along.
    And on a fucking dime!

It's not just Trump and his cronies, there's some oooooold timey motherfuckers trying to cover it up for him.

Part of me is disgusted, but part of me is filled with euphoric pants-cumming joy to have the lies burnt to the ground.

I was the winner of all those fucking arguments all along, and didn't even know it!
