Section 31 will get its own thread when they start shooting.
    Not a minute before.

    They're called Adirondack Chairs.

Or, if you live in a good country, Muskoka Chairs.

Here’s what you don’t seem to understand. It’s possible that Bob Lazar did work at Area 51, there seems to be some evidence that he did, but maybe he was just a janitor. Maybe it’s all true except for he was working on a man made craft and was led to believe that it was an alien craft so from his perspective he was telling the truth. Maybe he’s a government plant meant to throw people off the scent of what was really going on. We”ll probably never know for sure. I don’t know and neither do you. Again, you don’t really care about this subject, you just want to be a jerk to people who do.

So, I had drinks with David Rossi 9ver at Paramount a month or so back. I told him I wanted to get my foot in the door for writing for Star Trek now that I'm a legit published author, but I'd gotten lots of conflicting advice about how to do it.
According to him, there are about 5 shows in active development. I had a pitch for a new series, but he warned me that Kurtzman already has his own ideas, and I should focus on spec scripts for ongoing series.
So I go hone and start working on one for SNW and one for Lower Decks. Then, surprise surprise, Lower Decks is canceled! :bang: oh well. Maybe I can finish my SNW script and find an agent for it before they cancel that one too.
But, at least there do seem to be series in active development they haven't even talked about yet.

My understanding is best way to write for Star Trek is to write fan fiction for the book series Strange New Worlds. If your story is picked 3 times, then you’ll be given an opportunity to write a book with your own story or characters.

I didn’t follow through because I can’t write someone else’s character. I’d much rather write my own.

Wow, is that still a thing? I tried submitting years ago for the first edition, but I wasn't 18 yet so that was a no-go. It was a story about about Commander Shelby coming to DS9 to try out a proto-type anti-Borg weapon on the Defiant that's powered by the Genesis sequence, leading to an interior ethical conflict for Sisko.
Sadly, I dont think of qualify anymore for Strange New Worlds. If I'm not mistaken, it was only open to previously unpublished authors. On top of that, Lolita Fatjo told me the producers don't necessarily think writing a book mashes one a good choice for a screenwriter. And in a sense they're right. I did some graduate screenwriting classes and, it's a pain in the ass. The formatting alone shows my pace to a crawl.

Yea, I took some screenwriting classes in college as well. As well as technical writing and creative writing.

I took so damn many writing courses. I wanted to be a writer or journalist. But, I’m just too fucking lazy. I’d rather sit and daydream, than sit and write.

The hardest part, I've found, is finishing that first novel. Once you've done that, it's like riding a bicycle.

Sure. But, I’m still lazy. I finished every project for every semester. I’m pretty sure I have more than 600 pages written (just not in one document). I’m just lazy and prefer to day dream.

Can an idea Kurtzman or Goldman scribbled on the back of a mustard-stained napkin qualify as "active development" ?

'cause the idea that, presently, there are no less than five series working their way through the development pipeline, is pretty fuckin' daft. And that's not even taking into consideration the current uncertainties surrounding the future of Paramount - and by extension Trek.

Even if they aren't all in development, if he's got five series he already wants to get to at some point, he won't have headspace for a sixth being pitched by someone outside of Hollywood.
