You might as well say the same about President Clinton. Who actually inarguably violated the law. For the most trivial of reasons.

Considering that Comey himself denied any attempts by the Trump White House to "obstruct" any investigation, there isn't going to be any finding of "obstruction," attempted or otherwise.

 Comey did no such thing. He layed out the case for obstruction and then demurred: "It's not for me to say." Basically an alley-oop pass for Mueller to dunk home.

I'd say his 'handling' of the Qatar embargo could prove to be a big deal. Same for pushing away our European and Canadian allies.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jun/15/lobbyist-russian-interests-jeff-sessions-testimony

Two more lobbyists for the Russian government have come forward admitting to meeting with Jeff Sessions. These seem to contradict sworn statements by Sessions under oath this week where he claimed he didn't remember any more. In fact, Sessions has repeatedly lied and claimed he never met with agents of the Russian government and now over seven such meetings have been identified. Each time he is caught he claims there are no more and that it was simply an oversight on his part.

How do you claim to have had no meetings with Russians then slowly, drop by drop, admit you have had seven? The guy is obviously lying.

    Wrong.

Comey denying that he had ever been told to stop an investigation for political reasons. I can understand why you'd want to ignore this part of his testimony.

And if Comey had really wanted to stick the knife in Trump's gut, he would have flat-out directly accused Trump of obstruction when given the opportunity. But he begged off, knowing that doing so would bring a swift defamation lawsuit that he didn't have the evidence to win.

^^Good lord that was weak. Even taken out of context as you presented it it couldn't be made to say what you claim it says.

 He isn't even talking about Trump there! And once again you fail to understand the law. The president doesn't have to explicitly order an investigation be stopped in order to have committed obstruction of justice. Bill Clinton was impeached for far less than Trump has already admitted to doing.

IOW, "obstruction" will mean whatever you want it to mean in order to justify your pre-determined outcome.

Comey's words were crystal clear - at no time was he ever given a directive to stop an investigation for political purposes.

If Comey thought Trump had attempted obstruction, and if he thought he had unassailable proof of such, then he could have easily answered the direct question put to him at the hearing - "yes, Trump attempted to obstruct justice." That he didn't say this when given the opportunity is the nail in the coffin of this supposed "case."

Comey's testimony was nothing but a smear job, a high-tech lynching, a jilted lover angry over being dumped. The larger picture here is that the only reason they're talking about "obstruction" is that their Russian collusion conspiracy theory fell apart and it was time to shift the goalposts.

In that specific quote he was talking about his almost 30 years of experience up until Trump. What weak sauce even for an out of context quote!

    No, you haven't. :jayzus:

Why do you think Comey talked so much about his "feelings," how Trump's words made him "feel?" Let's see if you're smart enough to answer that question without me spoonfeeding you.

    I'm still curious.

If President Trump is forced out of office, what do you seriously think is going to happen to the next DEMOCRAT who is elected president?

If Trump is forced out, Pence becomes President, and the Dems will hate him, but he will stay. And so will the next Democrat, provided he doesn't act like Trump.

    Be serious.

You really think that millions of people will remember that President Trump was an incompetent, boorish, repulsive lout?

For more than SIXTY MILLION votes, the thing they will remember is

"OUR president was forced out of office"

    "And now its payback time".

During the Clinton impeachment proceedings, Clinton sycophant Eleanor Clift warned that would be the reaction of millions of Clinton supporters if he was forced out of office regardless of the truth or rightness of the effort to remove him.

Like I said, if President Trump is forced out of office, no future election will ever be over. It will be just the beginning of endless legal, political, and media attacks on whomever is elected regardless of any validity to charges against them.

The same thing that happened to the last two Democrats to hold office: The Republicans will launch investigation after investigation, based on the most specious of claims. If the Republicans had focused on something other than Whitewater and blowjobs, they might have uncovered something that actually got Clinton removed. If they'd have worried about something other than where Obama was born and Benghazi, they might have found something they could have used to remove him from office.

...and your president takes his place (Pence). Hopefully he wouldn't be impeached as well and instead be remembered fondly by all.

Not that any of this will come to pass. House will not vote to impeach even if he murders the maid.

Be serious Tucker. If President Trump is forced out of office, the payback on the next Democratic president will be 100 times worse than what President Obama and Clinton suffered.

    Combined.

They won't bother with two bit scandals like Monica Lewinsky and Benghazi, they'll go straight for the big stuff and small stuff with tremendous vigor.

You really want a situation where every last person who worked for or volunteered for a Democratic presidential campaign has an army of investigators crawling all over them, hounding them and their families for years.

At some point, elections have to be settled and peace has to be given a chance.
