Wow, what a bunch of nuts. What reasonable person could take umbrage at the idea of illegal tea? :diacanu:

The original tea party is barely understood by most Americans. They all think it was anti-tax, but in fact it was protesting a tax credit given to the East India company.

Ron Paul revels in his chance to reveal his own racism. I'm not sure what motivates some of the others.

So, apparently, these two guys converted to a radical form of Islam and attacked some random soldier as reprisal for wars in Muslim countries. :jayzus:

Ban cleavers, or hatchets, or machetes. I've heard the murder weapons described as all three. Regardless, full background check and registration for all edged tools and weapons! Conduct a "buyback" program so folks can turn in deadly garden hoes, pruning shears, lawn-mower blades, etc. etc. :ehrie:

This is the modern era - the Brits don't need sharp things anymore.

Yeah, that's been in the British media as well. But the fact is that MI5 and the police have to keep track of hundreds of possible people, including, I suspect, anyone who seems to be attached to extremists preachers and so on. They've foiled loads in recent years, but I guess some will always slip through the net as their resources are not infinite.

If this had happened here in the U.S. where we are still allowed to own guns (despite what the panty-waist lefties like Turdin want), instead of filming the killer talking casually to the camera the person could have SHOT HIM DEAD!!!

In the US the killer would also have had a gun, and the death toll would have been much higher, even if he had been one of its number.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/newswe...a-closer-look-at-fort-hood-shooter-s-gun.html

Note one the primary qualifiers of this attack?

It doesn't say 'mass' in front of it.

That doesn't belittle the death of that poor soldier, who left behind a 12 year old boy.

It just underscores the point - the opposite one of the one you were making.

Unless the victim were among the millions of Americans who elect not to surrender his right of self-defense under pressure of the irrational mob. Could very well be that these two would've been put down like dogs with very little fanfare.

And Doctor Crazy from Fort Hood wouldn't have stood much of a chance to go on a shooting spree if everyone (or at least most) of soldiers were armed. Yes, I know it was a hospital, but soldiers have been gunned down before in all types of offices/stores/gyms/parking lots/etc.

Yes kids, military posts are a "gun free" zone. :facts:

The only time you can have a gun is if you are at an actual shooting range or hunting or on an actual military mission (field exercise kind of thing.)

Most posts have signs at the gate warning you about bringing guns onto a military base.

That's why few soldiers here in Georgia carry weapons even off duty during the week. If they have to drive through the post or they want to leave their gun in their car while at work because they are shopping/living in a rough neighborhood they can't. Only on weekends can soldiers carry. So, if you have business in a bad neighborhood go home first, pick up your gun, then do your business.

Note to armed robbers - unless there is a post cop within spitting distance, rob away! Guaranteed no clerk or customer will be armed.

And yes, we do have armed robberies/kidnappings/rapes etc. on Army bases all the time.

I was at a seminar on how to survive a mass shooting this past Tuesday night. It was presented by a retired Navy Chief Who does tactical training and is employed by the Shelby County sheriffs office. He talked about The Fort Hood shooting as part of his analysis of mass shootings in United States, and made the observation that back in the day officers and senior NCOs would always carry a sidearm on base. He said it was a sign of Authority, and a retired Lt. Col. who was also present remembered the same thing.

Is completely ridiculous that a mass shooting like that happened on a United States military installation.

I cant think of a way this could have been 'better' if the 2 nutters had been armed with guns instead of meat cleavers, whether everyone around was 'packing heat' or not...

It would've been better if the victim had shot them both on the spot, and rendering that outcome less possible is something I will never support, regardless of how high-minded and smug the sales pitch.

In those instances where a semi-auto rifle with a larger than 10 round capacity (enough with the "assault rifles" pigfuckery  ) might have been needed, it absolutely would be a case of diminishing the right of self-defense. The likelihood of that scenario, and whether someone considers it worth preparing for, is the individual's place to decide. You do not get to dictate that choice for me.

Makes me laugh that every time there is an American incident there are crocodile tears and an assumption of understanding, yet when a British serviceman gets murdered, nobody gives a fuck.

Where are the likes of, for instance, Dayton with their faux righteousness?

I give a fuck. And what I want to know is, why is England's response to instruct their soldiery to not wear their uniforms in public? Why is their response to arrest people who speak up against radical Islam on Facebook and Twitter? Whose side is your government on?
