Here's my contribution. I took this pic back during the spring. It's the sun setting into the Belfast hills, seen through Goliath, one of two gigantic cranes at the Harland & Wolff shipyard. (The other is named Samson)

Well there's too much sun. See back when ya develop it yourself, one would use a gadget that would block some of the light while exposing the photo. A little less sun would make the picture better and not so glaring.

The bulk of the picture would get the set timing of light through the negative but you use this thingie to block the sun area only. You should look into that.

Do you really thing that photographers use the picture as shot in all cases? They manipulate the exposure of the paper to get various effects

Yes, i know, i used various effects on my digital camera to get that that shot
You dont seem to understand, thats the shot i was trying to take, any different exposure or filter settings and it wouldn't have been the shot i wanted

Well I started college as an Art major. I just feel that those pictures could be toned down a tiny bit and they would be excellent.

I did lots of photograpghy in HS and college. 35MM B/W and color.

Nice, but the foreground is rather bland with a few parts out of focus.

Look thru any issue of National Geographic. Half the photos in there would be rejected by a photography teacher, but NG tend sto think of them as cool arty shots. Dan's fits right in.

If that the picture he WANTED to take, and he's happy with the effect, who the hell are you to tell him otherwise?

    Re saturn pic
I just focussed a afirl small but good (meade 105 etx) telescope on it and put the (cheapo reconditioned 3.2mpixel camera) up to the eyepiece.
That shot is zoomed in by 3 or 4 on the original

Dan, host your pictures on wordforge, they'll load faster.

Here's some random pics I have that don't contain people:

You can see the full sized versions on the gallery if you want.
