It isn't for me this time, I am ok at the moment. My parents just brought Zel home from the hospital. He got hurt at work today and has a concussion...it's making him feel pretty shitty and any head injury is worrisome regardless. He went to two hospitals today...the first one decided it was just a contusion and shuffled him off this afternoon. He got steadily worse, 103F fever, shaking, confused, almost passing out so I got my family to take him to the other hospital which actually gave him a CT scan and found he has a pretty nasty concussion. As a believer that prayer and good thoughts really help, I ask that you please send some Zel's way for a quick recovery. Thanks everyone!
Dismissing a head injury is about as unprofessional as it gets for a hospital... I won't say 'sue', but I'd as sure as hell put in a formal complaint about that. Hope he's better soon...
Malpractice lawsuit here we comem, doo dah! Doo dah! Patient bill of rights is five miles long, oh dee doo dah day! I've given him my blessing.
My sister ended up in pretty bad shape once due to a similarly unprofessional level of misdiagnosis. She'd been getting sicker and sicker over the course of a week, with a 103 fever and lots of difficulty breathing, and apparently the doctor didn't even break out a stethoscope. He sent her home and told her to rest and drink lots of fluids, and the next day she was raced to the emergency room with an advanced pneumonia, a collapsed lung, and three liters of fluid in her chest. 24 hours on a ventilator, a week in intensive care, 2-3 weeks in the hospital, and permanently 10% diminished lung capacity (she'd taken up opera before this happened, and that was the end of that, but there aren't any other problems from the diminished capacity). Anyway, she came out basically fine, with a few scars from drainage tubes that make you wonder how she survived being shot twice in the ribs and once in the back. I certainly hope and expect that Zel will do as well, and I'll leave complaints about how our legal system mishandles malpractice in cases like these for a more appropriate thread.
Well, I'm an atheist, but I am still hoping that he gets better. Can't hurt to think positive thoughts for ya, so here's hoping he gets better quick.
So far he's still sleepy and getting chills on and off...kind of headachy. I am beginning to wonder if he has caught something in addition to this concussion. He's coughing, too which seems a bit odd. Still, he is doing a bit better...he can walk without feeling like passing out or falling over. We both appreciate all the kindness...thanks everyone!
Aw sweetie. I know this has to vex you. Will keep you both in prayer. Scary stuff when one you love gets injured.
