Spurs apparently made a £35M bid for ManU reject Giuseppe Rossi on deadline day! crazy, if true. Spurs were making all sorts of random bids that fateful day. Rossi, Phil Neville (!), Charlie Adam, and god knows who else. It's like Redknapp was intent on signing someone just for the sake of it.
Its the chairmans style, hold out till the lastday and try and snap up a bargain. How do you think he managed VDV. I think Torres moving on should hopefully give most Liverpool fans a much needed reality check. I would say however that I think Suarez has the potential to be a big success. Got to laugh, I watched Charlie Adam up here play for both St Mirren and Rangers, the boy always had skill and a good strike, but never in a million years did I think he would turn into a real footballer. Just shows that your fortunes can change if you find the right team for your talents.
Actually the chairman, Daniel Levy, was the one who wanted the big name signing. Neville and Carroll were Redknapp's main targets. Levy blew it though because he spent the entire window buggering about with David Beckham and the Olympuic Stadium bid instead of concentrating on deals. Also, he doesn't seem to realise that his "go back with a last ditch offer" tactic that he employs with teams smaller than us doesn't work with the bigger clubs, primarily because bigger clubs will not sell their prize assets with no time to get in replacements. All in all we've had two transfer windows now to get in some top names and we've totally bungled it. As a result it will likely cost us Champion's League football next year and therefore it will be that much harder to both attract the top talent in the summer. Plus we will risk losing Van der Vaart, Bale and Modric. As a Spurs fan I am, frankly, furious. Golden chance to build on last year totally wasted.
Highest scoring day in premiership history, and thats without the wolves manyoo game. Awesome comeback by Newcastle,.... looking forward to MoTD tonight
Yep, got to say Chelsea and Torres were definitely outplayed today. But mainly because they were pants, Liverpool weren't exactly scintillating.
Not many teams are when playing against Chelsea at the Bridge. Liverpool played well especially considering we didn't have a striker to speak of, whereas Chelsea had 3 of them starting the game. A great game plan from Kenny, who's done a great job since taking charge!
I would expect he will pick up at least two medals in the next two years. Which is probably 2 more than he would have had, if he stayed at Liverpool.
- that's the only way to describe the English media's wankfest over Rooney goal. It's as if nobody has ever scored an overhead kick before!
Well, the fact that Roonery has allegedly rediscovered his scorng form means that England will now win every game, right?
He can barely trap the ball when it comes to playing for England, much less win us any games! Overrated fat granny-shagger, he's been appalling for England and ManU for the better part of a year but scores one good goal and suddenly he's the greatest player in the world again. Crouch scored a couple of overhead goals like that for Liverpool but never got the media wankfest Rooney did. [YT="Crouchy"]aY_0iEl5NTE[/YT]
And last night was a perfect example of how football should be played! Rarely a game lives up to expectation and billing, but lastnight for entertainment certainly didnt dissapoint.
Agreed, that was a great game. Both teams going for it and playing some nice football without the bullshit spoiling tactics you see every week from English Premiership team. Really god performance from the Arse but I think Barca will turn them over at the Nou Camp. Spurs did well too, I'm actually happy they won, Gattuso is such a little shitbag, glad to see him on the losing side!
I like Arsenal, and was pleased to see them win on the night but Gabe Clarke's smug interview pissed me right off. That itself should be enough to fire Guirdiola up. I expect Barca to hump them in the Nou Camp. To be honest I could actually see a Man U or a Chelsea being able to take something from the Nou Camp if they had a lead to defend. Not Arsenal though, I don't see them having the tactics or the players to stifle the game and get right in Barca's face. Should at least be another entertaining game though.
Yep, For me, I thought Suarez was the outstanding player. Forget the goals he layed on a plate for Kuyt, he was everywhere. Left wing, right wing, through the centre, tracking back. Always running at full tilt as well and blatantly giving his all for the cause. Liverpool have got a great player there.
'Big man' John Terry has been reinstated as captain. Understandably Rio is not too happy. I have totally lost respect for Capello. This guy was supposed to be a hard-ass who took no shit from his players. Yet here he is rewarding Terry the captaincy after Terry tried to lead a coup of sorts against him at the World Cup, and who bitched publicly about being overlooked for the captaincy during a friendly when various players assumed the role. The guy is an arrogant twat who thinks he has a divine right to the captaincy. We have sucked as a team even with this mong as captain, I don't see why Capello has risked his reputation by making such a huge symbolic gesture by making Terry captain again. Truly poor form from Capello, a £5M a year waste of space.
I wouldn't worry about it, fleet street, the BBC, ITV and Sky will still have you winning the Euro's..............until the later half of June 2012. Then we get to start all over again with Redknapp or some other idiot winning the world cup for two years
Don't be daft. By next June Spurs purple patch will be over, as will the league season. You will be mesmarised by the Sun, Lawrenson and other idiots. You will attach your St George's cross mini flags to your car and hang your beach towel/flag out your window. I on the other hand, will be busy choosing who to follow in place of another tournament non appearance by Scotland.
Spurs tonked by Real yesterday. It's not all over yet, beating Real 4-0 is not as impossible as Harry claims... And Chelsea vs ManU tonight. Who to favour? Both repulsive, vile clubs. Wish they could both lose.
