Mourinho has succeeded in making even this traditionally exciting fixture boring as hell. But the man gets results, no arguing with that! Arse-Spuds match was a cracker, though. Arsenal choke yet again!
Well it was funny while it lasted. 1 goal in 14 matches from the £50M striker, impressive stuff Fernando. Keep it up.
Not that I want it to happen, but if he avoids injury and hits a great number of goals next season, may we revisit this post?
Thats the title wrapped up. And a great win for blackpool, that along with Utd fielding a weak side against them in the last game might just see them survive.
And that's the end of the season. Some great drama on the last day, at some stage of Sunday every single club in the bottom 6 were in a relegation place! West Ham, Blackpool and Brum go down. Birmingham will be playing in the UEFA Cup next season along with Spurs and Blackpool may also join them because of the fairplay rules. So that's potentially TWO Championship teams representing England in Europe next season. Liverpool finish a respectable 6th place after King Kenny rescued the club from a relegation battle. Now all that is left is the Champions League final. Needless to say, I will be a Barcelona fan during the final at Wembley. Come on Barca! We are, um, "more than just a club" blah blah whatever. Just beat those peskey mancs!
Saturday, May 28 The Champions League Final between Barcelona and Manchester United will be shown today on Fox: 2:00 PM Eastern Time 1:00 PM Central 11:00 AM Pacific Possible Line-ups Manchester United (4-4-2) Van der Sar Fabio da Silva - Vidic - Ferdinand - Evra Valencia - Carrick - Giggs - Park Hernandez - Rooney Barcelona (4-3-3) Valdez Dani Alves - Mascherano - Pique - Puyol Xavi - Busquets - Iniesta Messi - Villa - Pedro Barcelona is expected to have lots of possession, with United dangerous on the counter attack. Should be a great match.
A terrific Final match, and a great way to end the season. Barcelona played extremely well, and United gave them a good match. A lot of praise has been heaped upon Barcelona in the last couple of days. Well deserved, but I don't think they are invincible. I think they should look for a center back. Puyol is 33 years old, and going in for knee surgery. Mascherano doesn't seem to be the answer. I think that criticism of Ferguson's selections is unfair. Darren Fletcher was not 100% fit, and United don't have a solid defensive mid-fielder. City, Spurs and Liverpool are on the rise. Looking forward to next season.
I always get a chuckle when Darren Fletcher is mentioned. Like that would have made any difference to Barcelona. The mancs would have got tonked regardless of which team they played. Barcelona are simply on another level to all teams and they made the worst champions of England in years look the average team they truly are.
Average teams don't generally win their national championship and cruise to the final of the European Cup! If they are average, what does that say about the rest? Particularly those clubs which finish 22 points behind. Oh and I had a fiver on Barca to win 3-1 at 16/1!
The Premiership has been mediocre this season. Fair play to the mancs for being the most consistent at winning their home games with the aid of many homer refs, but they have been rubbish away from home and won the title with the lowest points total in around 10 years. And they had a piss easy journey in the Champions League. Even Spurs deserve more kudos for their CL exploits since they had far tougher teams to contend with than ManU did. As for teams that finish well off the pace - that's what happens when you have someone like Roy Hodgson managing you for 6 months!

Women's 'football' Having said that, I'd fancy the top women's side in this tourney to easily beat the men's Scottish national team.
No love for the MLS? Tomorrows Open Cup match has the No.1 team v No. 2 team in the League. So far the Galaxy have had our number but the Sounders haven't lost in 8 matches (won 4 out of 5 [the 5th incidentally being a draw against the Galaxy last week]) and it's being held at Starfire (in Tukwila a suburb of Seattle). You'd think considering the teams involved they'd move it to Qwest Field, but oh well. Should be a good one.
Ah but at least we know our place, and don't live delusions of grandeour that we are going to win the world and euro champs every other year. PS - we beat France home and away the other year!
