I don't support the death penalty, but there are people who I haven't lost sleep over being executed. Nuanced thinking...it's a difficult concept.
I don't wish cancer on Limbaugh. I wish Parkinsons on him. And then to have a fat idiot that looks and sounds just like him mock his Parkinsons, and have a crowd of baying yahoos guffaw and honk with cruel joy at the impression. And for him to gain empathy, and go "ohhh, that's what I do to people? I need to rethink life!". Oh, wait, we've done this already. He used to say all drug users should be locked up regardless of circumstances, and then he became an oxy addict, and then he never walked his old shit back, or apologized. The whole empathy/realization thing was supposed to happen there, and he blew it. Yeah, you had your chance, buddy. Life threw all the tests at you , and you got Fs and D minuses, and skated by on the low grading curve of America.
Rush is a tub, so there will be plenty of room for people to piss on the half acre grave he is buried in.
Lecture someone else and while you’re at it shove your more in sorrow than anger passive aggressive act up your ass you hate filled hypocrite.
I don't like the thought of anyone suffering or dying unnecessarily, but lacking any personal or emotional connection to this guy (or even knowledge about him other than what I've read here and in the equivalent TNZ thread) I can't say he's registers with any greater impact on me than any other total stranger. On the other hand I've cried over the deaths of people in my care who on paper are much more hideous given their crimes whilst giving nothing but the most fleeting acknowledgement of true paragons who were unknown to me. Hundreds of people have died in China over the last few weeks due to a new and unknown virus and frankly I've seen comments here and there which sound distinctly like gloating. Mr Limbaugh is, to me, no different from any of them, a human being whose path never crossed mine and ultimately that's all most of the human race will ever be, good, bad or indifferent.
Limbaugh started conservative talk radio here in the states back in the 80s. He's the grandaddy of today's conservative propaganda machine. His fans are particularly immune to reason.
I feel bad for Limbaugh, about as bad as I do for anyone else who smoked for decades and then get lung cancer. Maybe a little less bad because he peddled the myth that smoking wasn’t actually bad for you. But I am absolutely gleeful at the prospect that his listeners will no longer have him.
I'm sure they'll find someone who can dish up hate filled bowls of intellectually vacuous comfort food.
The thing with lung cancer is, you can quit smoking for 20 years or more and if it's gonna get you, it's gonna get you. I lost an uncle and a friend, both of whom quit smoking in their 50s, but the disease caught up with them at age 69 and 72 respectively. I once transcribed an oncology seminar. Some of the most noted experts in the field. One lung cancer doc (who didn't know the mic was hot) said: "You can suck nicotine into your lungs for as little as a year, and if the cells decide to mutate 30 years later, you're fucked." Amen to that.
If you quit smoking, 15 years later your risk for coronary heart disease is the same as someone else your age that never smoked. 20 years after quitting your risk for death from lung cancer and pancreatic cancer is the same as someone else your age that never smoked. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317956.php#timeline I quit smoking 15 years ago.
I will say this much for Limbaugh: he made the general population aware of the leftist/liberal/progressive/whatever they're calling themselves this week bias in the major media.
Maybe Mark Steyn will have his own show! Dude is fucking hilarious, smart as fuck with that dry Brit humor. When he is a Rush "guest host" he's awesome!
