did anybody think to look on snopes to check out exactly what Rush may have said (or didn't say) and the full context of the statements? Not attesting to what he did or did not say, but it is an interesting source to find out. Just sayin'
there you go! If you think you're right, back it up with some data. I do respect that! Of course when I get time I'm going to bounce your wiki material up against snopes - nothing wrong with getting a second opinion. Speaking of second opinions I'm sure Rush has done this. Medical question - bear in mind I don't know anybody who has ever died from lung cancer. Is it possible to get a lung transplant, or is it too late at that point? In other words remove cancerous lungs, put in functioning lungs. An old army bud of mine will soon be undergoing a double lung transplant so I know that procedure exists, but then again the guy is only 54 years old or so versus 69 years old. Anyway Rush said he was noticing a shortness of breath which led to his getting that checked out. Now I'll be extra diligent in trying to stay healthy! If my gas tank starts to diminish I would just think my hemoglobin level has dropped and monitor my stool color for internal bleeding. Now I'll cover all my bases and consider the state of my lungs too.
I do seem to remember you calling me "Professor Spot" for my habit of doing exactly that More constructively usually not but there are exceptional cases.
thanks spot! So bottom line Rush might get another few years even with a lung transplant, but his odds of even getting one in the first place are slim-to-none. So as it is he might get another year in his current condition. Hopefully he's using this "heads up" to get his affairs in order.
He might be in worse shape than thought. I saw him being brought into the SOTU in a wheelchair. Also he didn't look well. Maybe he's on chemo.
My Dad died of lung cancer. He hadn't smoked in at least 15 years, but there it was, in lungs and esophagus. Diagnosed in October 2002, and he was gone on Jan 2, 2003. Zip, bang, gone. He was pretty philosophical about it, saying "Well, I got no one to blame but myself." I actually blame his supervisor at Wright's when Dad was an 18-year-old draftsman. He said the only way you could get an actual break was to have a smoke. They would push you to get the hell back to work usually - even if you were taking a shit they'd come in the mens room and tell you to hurry up. But if you were smoking, they'd let you finish the butt. So Dad started smoking so he could have a 5 minute break now and then. Didn't quit until his 60s.
yep I "fake smoked" a pipe in air force basic training! Let me preach on it: When you got a rare break you could smoke in the designated smoking area. If you didn't smoke, you couldn't just hang out in the barracks - the drills needed their time for a break too, and they would give you busy work for the duration of the break. The designated smoking area was about 50 meters from where a drill sergeant would keep an eye on everybody smoking. There were two parallel yellow lines on the pavement about three feet apart. You stood behind a line and your buddy opposite you stood behind his line, and you could talk while you smoked. So every now and then my buddy would pass me his pipe and I would pretend to puff on it just to fool the drill sergeants. These days basic is "tobacco free" for the duration of the course for the army & air force. I can't vouch for the navy & marines but it's probably smoke free too.
What data are you looking for? Ok I'll help (3 consecutive quotes from that page): What [Obama] is talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care. I do not want the government in charge of all of these things. I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails." The Rush Limbaugh Show, 16 January 2009 So I shamelessly say, no, I want him to fail, if his agenda is a far-left collectivism, some people say socialism, as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed? Asked if he wanted Barack Obama to succeed as a president on Hannity's America January 22, 2009 You know, this is all BS, as far as I'm concerned. Cross species evolution, I don't think anybody's ever proven that. They're going out of their way now to establish evolution as a mechanism for creation, which, of course, you can't do. On evolution, The Rush Limbaugh Show, May 19 2009 here's one I posted in response to the OP, from this month, after he discovered he has cancer. If these back up your worldview, then we have nothing to discuss.
This is more or less how it's like in the Navy, too. Even for their half-assed attempts at smoking cessation, if you're a known smoker, you'll be able to get out the bilge or the galley or the bridge for a few moments. It's absolutely terrible.
If these back up your worldview, then we have nothing to discuss. - steve refencing post #110 no they don't back up my worldview on those particular subjects. I do not agree with everything Rush says or share his every opinion. I think this would apply to anybody I generally support.
Yeah, the specifics are one thing, but its really about how much fun it is when he owns the liberals isn't it? It's not the facts, it's the feeling.
"owning liberals" is not fun - it's really like shooting fish in a barrel. Speaking of feelings try not to get yours hurt in November when Trump runs victory laps around his weeping, pissing, convulsing opponent. Grief counselors and medical professionals will be standing by!
Projection. You've bet your worldview on Trump getting re-elected, so you assume that I (and anyone who doesn't toe the Trump line) feel the opposite. Go ahead and look it up, you'll never find me guaranteeing Trump will lose or that I will take some sort of stupid action (leaving the country, committing suicide, going into therapy ) if he wins...oh that's right you can't be bothered to look up stuff, you just go by your feelings.
I don't think he was prompting you for more backup data, I think he was complimenting you for backing up your statement with that wikiquotes link.
At work too. There were designated outdoor smoking shelters the smokers could hang out in. But if us non-smokers dared to go to the can for too long or too often, we'd get 'the hairy eyeball.' The boss made all the right noises about being on board with the safety lectures about desk workers getting up and stretching and walking around every so often. But if you actually DID leave your desk more often then, like, once, he was all over you for being a lazy bastard.
