I agree, the public education system is a disaster.

Just because you can't pass any high school course does not mean no one can. The biggest disaster of american education so far is giving participation grades and allowing students like you to get a diploma despite failing in every conceivable way imaginable.

Senator Rick Scott said last week, in the midst of record low unemployment, and near record high labor force participation (limited only by the parents who can't participate because lack of affordable child care) that people need to GET TO WORK as if there's some hidden population of lazy bums out there living large on the largess of...Medicaid?

This was in response to a discussion of certain jobs being hard to fill - in the view of the oligarchs there's something wrong with the economy when we don't have enough peasants to do the shit jobs.

(BUT not so big a problem that we choose a sane immigration policy because THOSE peasants aren't white enough - we require the peasants we already have to just, ya know, work three shit jobs to survive so the shit jobs still get done)

I don't know about the "white nationalist" part but the basic idea of educational vouchers is a good one. Nice and democratic. Everyone gets to choose which school their own kids go to. A school isn't performing? Everyone pulls their kids out to go somewhere else, the school fails from lack of funds or the staff is turned over to bring in people who know what they're doing. This of course assumes that everyone gets the same vouchers, so if it costs (for example) $10k per year to educate a child, then you get $10k per year per child in vouchers, no matter what your economic circumstance might be.
But FF, sadly, is right. The US primary education system is a stuttering clusterfuck of a disaster. My own idea is to get rid of "school years" in favor of educational modules. Eleven weeks of classes, two weeks off, all year 'round. Each module, from introduction to graduation, would have a set of goals - first module is socialization and your basic letters and numbers. Second module is beginning math and vocabulary. If you don't pass a module, there's no stigma, you just do it over again. You could even extend this model into secondary education, or what we call college. Have an option for some time off between the end of primary and the start of secondary, like six months or a year or whatever. Along the way, pull a lot of the social feelgood gobbledegook out of the schools and put a lot more emphasis on logic, reason, proper research skills, and debate. You'd still have gym, or physical education, but this would include things like proper diet and nutrition, basic first aid like CPR, and like that. Basically combine PE with health class. School sports would be heavily de-emphasized as the time and money waste that they are. With our education the way it is, there's no excuse for colleges spending millions of dollars on sports programs instead of classrooms and labs.

We don't have school vouchers exactly here, but for all intents and purposes similar outcomes. Between them, state and federal governments provide per student funding to both public and private schools.

What that means is that private schools are quite common here. Some are the usual super elite that would survive with no public funding, but others charge parents fees of a few thousand dollars a year at a level achievable by those who are solidly middle class.

End result is that in many areas the public schools are largely filled with the children of poorest families and those with learning or behavioural difficulties that make private schools not want them.
