2nd dose #TeamModerna on Friday, except for some soreness in the upper arm (like last time) all is well.
I get my second one on Tuesday. Friends who've gotten their second dose have been having their asses kicked by it. A former coworker said she got hers at 8:30 in the morning and felt fine until around 4am the next morning, when she woke up with chills and aches that lasted until around 11pm that night. I'm hoping I don't get a bad reaction because I've actually got stuff I need to do on Wednesday.
I was dog-ass tired the day after I got my second one. I spent just about the whole day in bed. I might have been able to do some work as long as it wasn't anything physical, but lugging cameras and all that shit...no way...
Fauci: US will consider sending AZ vaccine to Covid-hit India (msn.com) I think this is a good idea. India can't be too picky at this point, since they are overwhelmed and every little bit helps. And if Americans are too worried about the (unlikely) case of bad side effects it would go unused, so do something with the vaccine. A little late in the game, but did anybody from COVID-19 tech support think of unplugging India then plugging it back in?
I spent four years being Rider Communications manager for a 900k boardings a day public transit agency. You. Have. No. Idea... It’s true, all of it...
oh I agree! Your people are dying so you don't have time to quibble over legalities. You think China, Russia, or any other major country wouldn't think twice about doing what they had to do in this case? Time is of the essence here.
In all seriousness, got my first dose on Wednesday and by Thursday morning I was down for the count. Chills, aches and strangely, a 24-hour loss of both taste and appetite. I got the Shingrix vaccine earlier this year and it knocked me on my arse but I've never had a reaction to a vaccine like this. Feeling 100% now.
Also, for any assholes who still want to go vaccine-shopping or claim that Pfizer or Moderna are the best, spend the next seven minutes watching this video to understand how "efficacy rate" is calculated and why one vaccine is not necessarily better than another. In fact, based on the timing of the trials, it's quite likely that Pfizer/Moderna's efficacy rates have been overstated. (Apologies if this was posted upthread.)
I get my second shot tomorrow morning, I didn't even feel the needle, and the only thing I felt the next day was a slight soreness. But from what I've been hearing, about half the people that get the Pfizer Vaccine (the one I'm getting) feel worn out afterwards. My mom was pretty much flattened by the second dose for a few days. If I do feel side effects, I'm off from work Sunday-Tuesday, and work gives us up five days off with pay if we do get sick from the vaccine.
Jabbed. Oxford AstraZeneca. No side effects as yet. Farting a bit but I put that down to the protein shake I had for lunch.
Got my second jabbing, just like last time didn't feel a thing. I was in and out in about five minutes. I used one of the mass vaccination sites. It's extremely well run. You pull in and you show them your ID, your vaccination card, confirm if you are getting your first or second dose, and they scan a QR code that you create online by filling out a form. They us an iPad for all the information. You then pull forward into one of eight lanes. You show your card, ID, and QR code and confirm if you are getting your first or second dose. At that point they update your info if needed. You pull forward again, show your card, ID, and QR code again, go through a questionnaire and confirm for the third time if you are getting your first or second shot. Once that is confirmed, you get jabbed and you are done. You then pull forward, stop at at a check point where you have the option of waiting fifteen minutes or leaving. This time even with eight lanes being available, there were maybe ten cars there. I didn't stick around, I was pretty much home in fifteen minutes
I'd agree. They're in crisis. But the problem isn't so much the patents as getting their hands on the materials to manufacture the vaccines.
I heard in the chicken coop while listening to NPR that the raw materials for vaccines they buy from the US. Biden is lifting some of the export restrictions.
Adar Poonawalla, CEO of SII, appealed directly to US President Joe Biden on April 16 as the national crisis deepened. "If we are to truly unite in beating this virus, on behalf of the vaccine industry outside the US, I humbly request you to lift the embargo of raw material exports out of the US so that vaccine production can ramp up," Poonawalla tweeted.
Well, yesterday I started feeling like I was coming down with a cold or the flu around 4-5pm, about 7-8 hours after getting the second shot. I felt worn out, body aches and soreness, and really bad headache. I took some ibuprofen, that helped with the headache and some of the soreness. I wound up taking a nap for about an hour, that didn't help much, and my headache was worse. Figured what the hell, and had a few margaritas, that helped a little bit. Went to bed soon after. This morning when I woke up still felt like blegh, it's starting to go away now (a bit after 6pm here). Still, I'd rather have felt this than have gotten Covid. I'm thinking I'll be fine for work tomorrow.
