From the house? LOL. My wife might have something to say about that. :D Unfortunately there is no mask requirement at school. Hopefully she'll have somewhat better resistance in the near future.

For what it's worth, my kid brought home COVID from school during the statewide mask mandate in January 2022. And then gave it to his sister. And she to me. So even when they were wearing their shitty cloth masks in unison it wasn't working that great.

Last year, we stopped in a few places. My sister wasn't wearing a mask, she caught Covid. She was vaccinated with a second booster. I didn't get it, neither did my mom

Oh, and if you post that on FB (after finding it on FB), you’ll get a 24 hour ban for spreading “false information.”

Wasn't a great idea, allowing social media companies to become the gatekeepers of communication? :brood:

I haven't used Facebook in over 8 years. I don't miss it. To me, it was nothing more than people trying to one up each other and adults acting like they were back on the kindergarten playground.

For anyone wondering about the best way to explain/debunk the misuse of absolute risk reduction vs relative risk reduction talking points that antivaxers have been bringing up lately, this video is quite good.

This is different. We talk about different subjects and topics. We might brag a little. We've been on here, and for some of us we started our on TrekBBS long before Facebook ever existed. We argue, we squabble, but aside from people like Dayton, we don't really make our selves to be superior than others. I think I've known some of the posters on here for close to 23 years now. Hell, the deaths of some people on here have hit me harder than people I've known personally.

I use Facebook alot. I use it to maintain contact with people I know from childhood, people who no longer live close by. I also am part of a number of groups like model building, Disney Cruises we go on and congenital heart defect support groups. For all the negative, Facebook does have some positive impact.

    Incorrect.

You can still catch Covid while wearing a mask quite easily, but it does reduce the chances a little. However there is a clear reduced chance of someone wearing a mask transmitting it to someone else so saying they don't work at all is absolutely incorrect.

Not true, at least in the US. The CDC's own data chart showed that counties with mask mandates had virtually the exact same covid infection rates as those without one. And even if there were ANY advantage to it, it would be so minimal it'd be vastly outweighed by the many downsides.
