You mean one example of how, if you take someone out of poverty, he can achieve? That used to be the norm in this country.
Issues which, if our politicians made a good effort faith to resolve, would be more than sufficient for millions more. But none of which excuses shutting down immigration because Paladin thinks we shouldn't invite the poor and unskilled. Even more reason to bring them in: to help us beef up our infrastructure, education, and healthcare with more workers. You're really going to compare the Immigration policies of China and India to the US? I don't see why we can't take care of both at the same time. Policy making isn't a one at a time sort of thing. We can address thinks like infrastructure, education, healthcare, crime, space, immigration, etc. simultaneously. That's kind of how the government is set up, different people specialize in different issues. We don't just decide on solving immigration all year (unless we have ADHD like our president) because we are more than capable of solving multiple problems. And adding more brains with different experiences can only help to ultimately solve those problems.
Speaking of countries on the path to becoming a shithole the New President of South Africa (the previous two got kicked out after being caught being corrupt to the core while the ANC retains power largely through a corrupt patronage system) has said he wants to expropriate land from white people without paying any compensation. Yeah, we have seen that happen is various African countries from Tanzania in the 1970's to Zimbabwe in the 1990's and it always caused the agricultural economy to collapse. The truth is the last thing Africa needs are more peasant subsistence farmers living on tiny plots and barely interacting in the cash economy. The large farms generate most of the food and all of the agricultural exports plus they are actually large enough to be market viable so they can afford to buy the latest farm machinary, the right seeds, fertilizer, and pesticides in order to keep farm output high. Giving all the ANC supporters, who have no experience farming, 5-10 acres will not do that so we can expect farm output to nose dive. In 3rd world countries agriculture is a major pillor of the economy so damaging it is especially negative for the economy. Next who will invest in a country who's government is kleptocratic and simply steals property without compensation? This is the populist third world garbage which turned Venezuela, the country with the most oil in the world, into a basket case where you can't find food to eat nor toilet paper to wipe your ass with. Further more this will only intensify corruption as the government will have more goodies to redistribute to its supporters, a new weapon to use against the opposition, and more government control so the corrupt have access to more to steal. It is sad to see South Africa go down the Zimbabwe route.
Oh, and the new clown says he wants to simply take over the national central bank so he can manipulate it based upon his political needs. Yeah, that idea always goes well.
And you base this line of reasoning on what? Is there data to back this up? Poor and unskilled workers won't beef up anything except unemployment and the national debt. With what money? The US is over a trillion dollars in debt and no policy will work until you fix that problem. Look, it would be nice to be living in a fairy tale world where american resources are endless and we could take in everyone. Unfortunately, we don't have unlimited resources and are currently in too much debt.
Ah, another poster whose ancestors were all highly skilled when they came to this country. There's one school of thought that says that as the U.S. population is aging out and medical interventions are extending lifespans, the need for nursing home and in-home assistance will increase. You may need one of these desperate people to wipe your ass for you some day (yanno, those "jobs Americans don't want to do"). And his/her children will go on to nursing or medical school, or become teachers or even MBAs and lawyers.
It's no secret that Congress is an ineffective body at this point. Beyond that, we have the need and capacity for much more infrastructure to accommodate millions more. So more workers earning more money to spend on the necessities of life, thus increasing the demand for those products will destroy our economy? That's a lie. We've been quite capable of policymaking while running a debt pretty much since our inception. Unless you think the founding fathers fought the War of Independence with their own savings? Again, we are fully capable of doing more than one thing at once, even with debt. Or are you the sort of person who charges their credit card and then immediately becomes a recluse until it's paid off? That just sounds like an argument to find other more renewable resources
This shows us the absurd depths to which the Trump apologists have sunk: "Look, a satirical newspaper once used a similar word!" Since everyone with any personal integrity whatsoever has already given up on defending the Toddler-in-Chief's utter trashiness, I guess we're not exactly dealing with the A-team, though...
Personally, I see a world of difference between "shithole" and "hellhole." "Hellhole" is usually defined as "an oppressive or unbearable place," which casts no judgement on the people from there. If you believe in a biblical hell and the religious standard for admission, then you recognize that a lot of good and decent people end up there. "Shithole," on the other hand, is a synonym for "anus." Since we all know what comes out of an anus, calling a country a "shithole" implies that the people immigrating from there are themselves "shit."
Obama can say shit show, but Trump can't say shit hole, right? https://www.peoplespunditdaily.com/...rump-alleged-s-hole-remark-forget-themselves/
Perhaps you would care to explain the context of Obama’s remark, and why he was wrong to use that word.
