If you mean burning in a disrespectful manner (just to shut down the nit-pickers so said technically a flag can be burned if the ceremonial etc.etc) then that cuts across party lines. In other words if you burn the flag to make the "fuck america" statement then you are a shit-bag. That flag represents millions of people (from all walks of life) who served under that flag. So I will not harm you, but neither will I help you. If you are drowning I will not throw you a rope, which is my right.

Words? Massively important ideas stand on their own. They don't need a corporeal form, only a descriptive one, to pass them on. Show a small child a flag, and it means nothing to them. Read them the Gettysburg address, and you'll convey something.

Fair enough--I appreciate your nonpartisan stance, actually. I always viewed flag-burning as an act typical of liberal protesters. It is difficult to imagine conservative protesters burning the flag--the image of Tea Party protesters comes to mind, and they were often decked out in full Red, White, and Blue clothing. Maybe I'm biased in that regard.
