If they were building statues to ST characters and what was a socially transformative TV series that came from america and contributed to it's spirit in a great way I would be all for using tax money for it. Why we use tax money to idolize traitors who attacked and killed our military and civilians so they could keep black slaves (because it was not legal to enslave a white person), is beyond me. Our slavery system was not just the slavery of the world by that point. We had pretty much banned taking liberty away from white men and racially identifying black people as property and slave fodder in the US under the constitution. This is not just slavery, this is skin color based slavery that we practiced because you could not keep white people as slaves for no reason like you could brown people. Yet we want statues of the men who killed and massacred americans for that practice in our country as idols we should look up to?
