Well, he PM'd me this morning. Why he picked me given my opinion of him is beyond me. But he did and he gave me his account password to log in and see things. Now, I won't discuss his PM inbox without his permission (albeit it was revelatory) - albeit I know have an answer to one of the questions I was asking last night. But something else stood out, so I am going to post a screenshot of something, which he knows I am doing.



Know what that is? That's a picture of gturner's lack of access to the Violet Room, taken by me this morning on my laptop - and if the mods don't believe me and think this image is a fake (frankly I don't have the skills) they can check the IP records and they'll see gturner logged in from my IP address about an hour ago.

This shows you we have been fed a pack of lies over the past day by the mods and owners. Look at the bottom right of the screen. He has no access to the Violet Room! "The liar" gturner wasn't actually lying this time! He's been kicked out of the Violet Room as well! So I have to say that I find the insistence over the past day that he has to "prove he can stop shitposting" to be even more farcical than I already thought it was. No wonder the mods were so quick to restore some of his other functions last night. He was never consigned to the VR. He was de facto banned and couldn't post anything anywhere!

Frankly this clusterfuck is getting worse by the day. This is noting more than the mods picking who they don't like and trying to drive people off by whatever sly means they can find - all while trying to appear whiter than white. It's the same common theme that runs through all the decisions they've made. The weak excuse for Castle's permaban, the removal of Flashlight's rep, the restrictions of privileges for Dayton and Faceman and now this. They act with total hypocrisy in claiming that these people are driving people off, when in fact it is their efforts that are trying to do just that instead of being honest.

I had my reservations about Gul from the start and said as much when he took over. But I never thought people like John and Anna would sign off on this bullshit.

If the current mods who signed off on this crap have any decency they would step down - and in the event that they are owners they should do what I have seen at other boards. Appoint a set of neutral admins and take a back seat. They are doing as much to ruin this board as the people they are going after and, much to my surprise, are proving to me worse than Lanzman and Tamar - who, despite her favouritisms, never pulled any shit like this. Just because a member acts like a douchebag, it shouldn't matter as long as they don't break the rules. That's what WF was intended to be all about. Now the very heart of what it was meant to be is being ripped away.

You were informed. He told you in this Help Desk post here almost immediately that he got some access back. A post you yourself saw and described last night as an attempt by him to shit stir in the wrong thread. You then went on to say he was lying, but it turns out he wasn't. So either you're incompetent and threw someone into the VR without bothering to check on their permissions, or you're just fudging the excuses. Either way, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence does it?

It was a mistake on my part, that is true, and I take full responsibility for that. I always test permissions, but even though the test setup said he had full access to the Violet Room, there must have been a missed check button somewhere in the configuration, and yes, it is my fault for missing it. Still, he could have let me know. It's amazing how when we said to ask the admins if he had any questions, he chose to PM you, Shoes, Paladin, and several others. It was his choice not to let us know something was wrong. Think about why that might be.

He can't get anything done if he doesn't ask the Admins why he was restricted to the Violet Room. So? Why did he even need to let you know? You were the ones declaring loud and proud that he could go to the VR to "prove" himself. You were the ones justifying the VR's existence based on dealing with him. You were the ones declaring that he wasn't banned. The obligation was on the mods to check they had done what they claimed...and all along not one of you bothered to check he had actually been placed in the VR, and it turns out that for a time he was banned from all forums! Gtardo doesn't run the place - you do. It wasn't his job to check to see if you got the permissions right, it was the moderators' (and that means all the mods involved in this decision before there's any passing of the buck, not just the ones who do the technical stuff).

This was poorly executed from the start. An unpopular new room followed by an improperly executed ban, carried out without proper prior warning and without a change in the rules. It's been a mess from the get go. As the American maxim says, you broke it, you own it.

The "staff" has displayed a consistent effort to undermine posters in a extra curriculum manner. It is a pattern displayed some time now in respect of various posters...and none of it has been in response to rule breaches. Hell, I don't trust the mods to treat people fairly (including myself), especially mods like Gul. The fact that you are willing to put aside the rules and do whatever comes to mind makes you an unpredictable cabal, and that means that trust is gone because people think you'll do whatever your own impulses, grudges or dislikes dictate. Then there's the fact that prior to the VR, Gul came out and explicitely said that gturner was the very worst type of American and he wanted nothing more than to see him gone, followed by an unexpected merging of gtardo's threads. What possible trust could any person have that they would be treated fairly after that?

The problem here is that once three of four of you agree on something you then act like it can't possible be wrong (like discouragement), and it's getting in the way of you looking back on the downside of your style of moderation or listening to criticism.
