All donations should be made public. Reality is that Obama knows he will be in trouble when it's shown just how many people took their donations and broke them down to $200 or less to avoid the law.

See, now, that's what's called "using your imagination."

Yes, and it's what people who want to get around the law do also. They use their imagination.

Like Zombie said, there is reason to believe that it HAS happened.

Which is WHY I want to see the list.

Who'd he be in trouble with though? His demographic isn't going to care. Shit, for all of the overlooking that his supporters have done, all of the summary dismissals of concerns for which he should have been held accountable, his name might as well be Barack Mulligan Obama.

Transparency: McCain has it. Obama doesn't.

It seems like several possible reasons why Obama hasn't released his donor list have been offered, and Azure simply doesn't like any of them.

I understand completely. Obama supporters have no problem with corruption so long as it's their guy doing it.

Where is the inherent corruption in not releasing a list of names?

Sure the law is on his side. Of course when he makes the list available to the FEC which has the right to the list under the law they will gladly point out all the broken laws for him. Which of course is a matter of public record.

His refusal is just a hold out until after the election. Wait for after the election and if he wins expect a sudden openness to occur regarding the list.

The corruption lies in using the law to shield other law breaking.

He doesn't have to release the names under the law but by doing so it is not because he respects privacy but because he is shielding his and his campaigns knowledge of lots of illegal campaign money.

You have proof to the contrary? There are already examples of illegal contributions being made that the Obama campaign has had to account for. That being the case, failing to be transparent about his other receipts isn't exactly wise since it protects those who would be contributing illegally.

I have no burden of proof, as I'm not making any allegations against the Obama campaign.

Zombie claims he has proof several people broke up their contributions. I'm not seeing it in this thread.

Which is funny, considering the legislation about transparency Obama has sponsored in the past.

    I only saw one reason.

That was Pardot making himself look like a fucking moron by posting an article from May that said the Obama spreadsheet program had crashed because of the high amount of public donors.

Which, BTW, is a poor ass excuse.

It hasn't been shown by anyone that the "problems" Obama has with his fundraising are in any way atypical in quality or outside the norm in quantity on a per-contribution basis. Obama has a lot of iffy contributions because he has many, many more contributions than anyone else in history.

So you're just going to ignore the fact that issues have arisen with donations being made to Obama, and some of us would like his donor list to be made public because of that?

Great. Then you should have no problem with Obama releasing the information so it can be verified that all his contributions are clean.
