Maybe it's time you did it again.

Dayton in MC, in response to the phrase "haters gonna hate."
    What a fuckstick.

I feel like this is a pretty minor item on the list of Dayton offenses.

Fuck you, that's entirely valid. If someone uses a phrase they don't actually know the meaning of, they should be scorned.

It's ironic is what it is since he's coming off as a hater. When he asks them to explain what it means they should hold up a picture of him.

^In which case they get written up for insubordination.

Students are not allowed to say anything demeaning or insulting about an instructor or an employee of the school district while school is in session or on school grounds.

I once had a student in a class who said simply in my presence that "I don't like him" (referring to me). I mentioned it casually to the principal (who did not like me at all), he quickly yanked the girl out of class and gave her three days of In School Suspension (ISS) because she was being disrespectful.

Same with students addressing an instructor by their first name.

That is your choice of course.

Though given the general trend among many Wordforgers, you will believe the things that are not flattering to me and dismiss the things that are complimentary.

As someone compelled to attend public school a student should have the first amendment right to call a spade a spade and call Dayton a fucking horrible teacher without repercussion.

Why shouldn't people believe things that come out of your own mouth? You got a girl suspended because she said she didn't like you? That's some petty shit.

First amendment rights do not extend to minor students in a classroom.

Not to the same extent as an adult that is.

As the head football coach told our players (more than once).

"I don't care if you don't like the teacher. I don't care if you think they're stupid. I don't care if your parents say they are bad.

They are the adults in authority. You show them respect".

I didn't write her up. I just mentioned it in casual conversation when the principal was talking about students attitudes. I personally didn't think it rose to the level of ISS.

    Respect is earned, not given.

You can of course force people to fake it, but it's not real. In fact it is usually the opposite.

While the courts have held that the first Amendment can be restricted under certain circumstances, "I don't like you" is stretching relevant precedent.

I'm certain the restriction on the First Amendment that the courts speak of says nothing about "Respect my authority." But that's a cute story nonetheless.

    You're wrong.

    Absolute Bull.

An adult has no obligation to "earn" the respect of juveniles he has authority over.

How would one go about "earning" the respect of grossly immature teenagers who are being compelled to go to school in the first place because society has decided that education is good for them?

At what point would you say a teacher has "earned respect"?

Wait, what?! Why are students' attitudes coming up in front of the principal?

I'd slap the fuckin' boogers out of any motherfucker who brings that shit up. And no, I don't care whether you think it's "assault" -- reach for that phone, bitch, I will take it the fuck away from you and then slap the fuck out of you ntil you piss your fucking pants for trying to defy me when you're getting your just punishment. You sign up to be a teacher, you're signing up to be a public servant -- IOW, a public slave. And I will 100% treat you like a slave.

Slaves do not indoctrinate the children of free men. Slaves don't even fucking try. And in those rare case where slaves are stupid enough to try to do that shit? Slaves get beaten into fucking pulp.

When you're a good teacher who can engage and interest people. I had some of them when I was at school and they certainly earned my respect.

And respect works both ways. This isn't the first time you've indicated that you have none for your students.

A teacher who actually has a positive effect on his students takes that obligation upon himself. He inspires those young minds to explore new paths by respecting them.

But so far one of your bigger success stories came back from Afghanistan short a pair of legs, right?

I would say that some of my greatest success stories are the one who is a star running back at Louisiana Tech and two more studying engineering at the University of Arkansas.

Dayton, I'm looking at your school's online student handbook right now and I can't find that anywhere. I'm looking at section C which pertains to student behavior. Maybe you could help me out. Do you happen to know what page it's on?

So the principal didn't bother to ask "why"? Just suppose that the teacher had tried to molest her...there's no possible reason other than disrespect for "not liking" a teacher...I'm reminded of why I hated principals and administrators. Most of them are bullies and petty tyrants who get off on pushing kids around.

There are schools run by educators whose goal is to teach children ... and there are schools run by insecure strutting Napoleons whose goal is to keep the little bastards in their place. It's fairly obvious which type we're discussing here.

The best-discplined schools are generally those where authority figures earn respect and instill it as a value in their students by modeling it themselves.
