The Americans was an amazing series with excellent writing. I’m sure they will do well, but I don’t know how well they know Star Wars. Even though this is good news, I still can’t get excited for this show. I guess we’ll see when a trailer comes out, but it just seems unnecessary. If it were a well known character, maybe I’d be more excited.
Yeah, but think about the time period, think about all the characters he can run into, and the events he can get caught up in. Look at all the Easter eggs they got into just Rogue One.

Someone claims to have found a list of shows in development. Young Princess Leia is one of them. https://comicbook.com/starwars/2019/02/19/star-wars-tv-series-disney-plus-preview/
Young Princess Leia Captain Phasma The Knights of Ren Rose Tico Darth Bane Color me pretty.....pretty...pretty......skeptical
Not worth starting a new thread over, but this claim that Disney is killing off the iconic characters from the OT because they don't want to have to pay Lucas royalties for their use sounds plausible to me. https://boundingintocomics.com/2019...ause-george-lucas-still-financially-attached/ I wouldn't say that it's likely, because I have no idea of what the deal Lucas struck with Disney was like, aside from the big payout that Lucas promptly laundered through his charity. It would explain a few things, but even if it weren't true, I'm certain Ford would have made it part of his contract that Han died during the first movie.
Oh yes, no question Han was gonna die first chance they got. Like Nimoy only agreeing to TWOK if they'd kill Spock off.
Kinda silly to keep making movies with the classic characters, then. Ep 7 had Han, Leia, Luke, Chewie, R2-D2, C-3PO, Kenobi (voice) Ep 8 had Leia, Luke, Yoda, Chewie, R2-D2, C-3PO, Admiral Ackbar Ep 9 has Luke, Leia, Lando, Chewie, R2-D2, C-3PO, presumably Palpatine, and who knows who else? If they're trying to minimize classic characters, they're doing a really crummy job! And once this trilogy is done, they can tell stories without any of the classic characters.
It depends upon the fine points of the contract, at least if the rumor is true. If there's a clause, for example, that Lucas gets a cut of the merchandising royalties, then having the characters only briefly in the film means that any toys based around them are probably going to sell at a much lower volume than those for the main characters. For example, with ESB, there were, I think, three Han figures: Hoth Han, regular Han (with slight clothing changes), and frozen in Carbonite Han. For TFA, you get old Han, and that's it. I guess Hasbro didn't think anyone would want stabbed Han. Again, I'm not convinced that the rumors are true, just that they're plausible.
To me the $$$ instinct is to keep them around as long as possible, so you keep your options open for milking them for all they're worth, regardless of what % Lucas might get out of them. You may be mad the writer killed off e.g. Ackbar in TLJ, but it saved him from being reduced to just someone they throw in fifty movies down the line, just as a cheap cameo to get people to see the mediocre hash the SW machine will be extruding by then
Rumors are flying around that next week at D23 there’s going to be an Obiwan movie or tv series announced. Grain of salt and all.
