Rogue One character details. http://www.superherohype.com/news/376873-rogue-one-character-details-revealed
The only problem with that, is whether it actually makes the character recognizable. I'd argue that stuff can be vague and is only meaningful to hard core geeks, anyway.
Well, the article does say it's recognisable to the fans as opposed to everyone. Most fans will recognise characters like Thrawn, Kyle Katarn and so on, despite them not being canon. I was thinking a character along those lines (and probably one who wasn't previously black).
Maybe. Whitaker is said to be a Clone Wars veteran. Some over at the Jedi Council Forums reckon he's Panaka.
First off, why not cast SLJ? Second, there are only two Jedi left by this point and he ain't one of them.
Yep. I beat @Diacanu http://www.ew.com/article/2016/06/22/star-wars-rogue-one-forest-whitaker-character
Kewl. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Saw_Gerrera That makes Clone Wars truly canon, and thus too that Darth Maul came back for an arc of episodes, and is still around in Rebels.
You just know we're all gonna shit when Vader first appears. Hopefully, it will be a surprise reveal, like a door flashes open and there he is. And I think I know what's going on in the Rogue One trailer. You see a cloaked figure--Palpatine, I think--entering a chamber with a glowing tank surrounded by Imperial guards. My guess this is a bacta tank (or something similar) that injured people in the Star Wars universe are healed in. I think it's Vader in there, and this will be the scene where the Emperor dispatches him to handle some of the goings-on in the film. My guess is you won't see much of Vader in that scene, but it sets up his appearance later in the film.

Remember those re shoots @gturner? Turns out it wasn't that big of a deal, like @Diacanu and I said. http://makingstarwars.net/2016/06/ew-offers-the-latest-on-rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-reshoots/
Sounds good. I appreciate the cinematography of VII trying to keep in line with the previous trilogies, but they shouldn't let that kind of thing constrict creativity moving forward.
