Hopefully we will get an Obiwan movie before McGregor is too old and they have to cast a third actor for the role....

Rogue I so bad Disney orders four weeks of reshoots

Given how JJ's effort is hardly a work of cinematic high art, and more of a high octane remix of the first Star Wars than anything remotely original, the fact the new film has failed to reach the same standard is surely alarming for fans of the beloved franchise.

The Bothans turned out more irritating than Jar-Jar so all their death scenes are being re-shot in slow motion.

However, gturner's post is verified. The same information appeared in my Facebook feed, therefore it's completely true and accurate.

Me too, and I am definitely psyched to see the movie. If there is a problem, Disney will fix it, but I suspect this is actually more a case of haters gonna hate.

Also, my line about verification via Facebook was kind of a joke. As Lincoln always says, seeing it there does not mean it's true.

If they were part of the plan they wouldn't be reshoots. Those are almost always the result of early screenings where the movie falls flat. Just revisit the talk about the test screening for Phantom Menace where the reaction was "WTF?!!! How can we fix this?" But the way Lucas had put it together there was no way to fix it.

Hopefully the current version will eventually be leaked so we can all behold the suck.

We went through this with Suicide Squad.

    *Lets go of your head*

    Got it?
Did it go into that thick head this time?

    They all do it.
    It's a thing.
Maybe when they edit, a plot point is missing they want back.
Maybe they need to punch up an action scene.
Maybe a character needs more motivation to get to one scene when some other scene before it is cut.
Reshoots are protection they've always used.
It's not this scary poisonous thing.

"Duhr, why would 'dese news site report it the...:droolingidiot:".

It hopefully means that Disney isn't content to release a movie that totally sucks. That's at least an improvement on George Lucas.

They played it super safe with Force Awakens. I've dreaded this direction ever since they announced Abrams as director of TFA. It was clear that they think that after the prequels every movie has to feel like the OT. How sad. Still it explains why we're getting a Han Solo movie that hardly anybody wants.

I think we're seeing the Deadpool/Batman v Superman effect here. Studio execs have noticed that a grim but fun movie exceeds expectations, while a dark, dour blockbuster--even with iconic characters--comes up a bit short.

I just want a good movie, whatever form that ultimately takes.

I don't want a good movie because it wouldn't be true to Lucas's vision. I want extreme peril interspersed with comedic cutaways so my brain doesn't have time to process an entire emotion.

I was reflecting yesterday on the way Lucas ripped off the climax of "Dam Busters" (1955) for his Death Star attack in Star Wars: A New Hope while ignoring the movie's actual story, which was about extreme ingenuity and the bravery to try that ingenuity out in battle.

A science fiction writer would have focused on the Death Star plans and all the analysis to find a weak point. One group of analysts finds the unshielded exhaust port but Rebel commanders ignore them because obviously a bomb can't make a screaming 90-degree turn inside a chute and then drop straight to the reactor core.

Or can it? One tiny office of intrepid engineers thinks it's the only thing that could possibly destroy the Death Star and they think it can be done. Over months they go from concept to design to testing, and since it's an off-the-books project with no official support they have to scrounge around for a few pilots to test it. They have to go with some rookies because all the experienced X-wing pilots are being used for real missions in the real war, not some crazy experimental weapon Jerry rigged to beat up X-wings that should have been retired long ago.

They find it takes a lot of practice to even have a chance to score a hit, and the pilots, including the kid from Tattooine, train and train for a mission that only they and the handful of rebel engineers believes can succeed. And then the Death Star comes for their base and they become the only option, the only hope of staving off annihilation.

That would've been a much better back story to the attack instead of the nothing-burger Lucas gave us, even as he's ripping off the very movie that had this basic backstory included.

I'm not all that enthusiastic about a young Han Solo movie, but I'll say this: I watched Hail, Caesar last night and am hugely impressed with Alden Ehrenreich. This young guy has "it." Can definitely see him as a younger version of Han.

It's not the Coen's best film, but it's very entertaining and wonderfully satirical, if a bit lightweight. Clooney, again playing a nitwit for the Coens is a hoot, Brolin is very solid as a studio "fixer," Ehrenreich is funny and charismatic (his bad acting scene with Ralph Fiennes is an instant classic), and Channing Tatum...well, his big song and dance number is the highlight of the film.

I liked it, but it's one of those ones that's entertaining as it's going on, but then when it ends, you're like "....that's it? What did I just watch then?".
