Anyway, it's all fine and good that there's some explanation for Palpatine's return out there--not that it's a good or coherent one--but the movie still doesn't get a pass for omitting it.

I guess they had to go somewhere after TLJ took such a left turn. To me, aside from the Resistance (Rebellion??) being smashed, TLJ felt like an ending. So, they had to bring Palps back somehow. But, this time he's dead. For realsies this time. We really mean it. Honest.

And there’s no point in murdering the actor to prevent them from bringing him back, thanks to CGI.

Palpatine is in his original ROTJ body, he's radiation burned, and the bald chick from Revenge Of The Sith is Rey's grandmother.
