Roy literally sent a letter to McConnell that he and his allies would oppose any bill they voted for if any Republicans voted for the budget. So the fracture of the GOP over this is directly related. You should read up on either what whataboutism means, or have a better understanding of politics.

Oh, and speaking of not understanding politics - this had to be done this way for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, it includes changes in the political process of certifying the votes b/c of the House Republicans support of fraud. And amazingly a few Republican senators wanted that door to close. Not many, mind you, but enough.

Second it ensures that the far right nutjobs can't just refuse to fund the government next year in order to extort concessions. Which they were for certain planning on doing.

But even more worrisome, there's quite a few GOP House members that are so devoid of reality that they'd throw the economy over the cliff. We've nearly been there several times in the last decade. And they will certainly try to do so again.

Even the Senate GOP doesn't trust the whackaloons that the GOP House delegation has in it. And you might recall that the Founders for all their flaws did create the Senate as the more sober and deliberate body for just these reasons.

And finally it includes help for Ukraine against Russia, that some members of the GOP senate want to see, bc they've gotten all they can out of Trump and Russians supporting them and are beginning to understand the cost. Certainly McConnell realizes now that Trump cost them the Senate majority, and he well knows that the insurrection and many of Trump's political moves were for Russia. Moscow Mitch doesn't want to go down as a traitor, hates that name, but it's no doubt too late for him in the eyes of historians.

And it's all perfectly legal, unlike much of the shit that the GOP has done in the last few years.
