I just hope that by the next elections in the US this crap will be over and the Russians will be driven out. In Europe, the Putinists are already celebrating Trump's return in 2024, and there are still a huge number of Putinists in Europe, don't be fooled. Trump's interview with CNN has caused real jubilation among these assholes.

Because Biden is so frail, I think it's entirely possible he loses the election. Whether against Trump or another republican buffoon like DeSantis.

correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like a lone T 34? Kinda funny that it's headed in the opposite direction to the other parade...

Not sure any of us were born when that thing rolled off of the (license built) lines.

Honestly, I think that entire scenario is unlikely. Russia is committed long term. I'd love the war to be over soon but I have a hard time seeing that happening. Really hope I'm wrong there.

As to Biden, his approval ratings are low because there's a rising group on the left that want someone more progressive. But they absolutely detest Trump. The vast majority of them will vote against Trump if he runs.

Desantis hasn't declared, and is polling at 10%. If Trump goes to jail seems to be his only real shot. He's also alienating the GOP donor base with his wars on Disney and multiple reports have shown him doing very poorly when it comes to trying to win them to his side.

I'm almost certain it's going to be Trump because the GOP is just batshit insane fascists. But if for some reason it isn't then I don't think it will be Desantis - either Youngkin or Hayley IMO.

    Anyway, guess we'll see.

Yeah, looks like the old T-34/85. The last time they were produced in Russia was 1946! Absolutely astonishing how completely their industrial capacity has collapsed. One of the people that were thrown out a window was the guy in charge of their last big tank works. Almost certainly he was stealing huge amounts from them and Putin had him killed over it.

I just don't get the "frail Biden" angle... I mean, have you looked at Trump (let alone listened to him?)?
There's not only the apparent dementia, but that he's also bordering on morbidly obese.
Not sure which of them I'd prioritize in the deadpool? If either of them survived till the end of the next term it'd be edging toward miraculous.

The situation on the battlefield is so volatile, one can actually only speculate since the beginning of the war. After all, the Ukrainians are still fighting, no expert predicted this in the first days of the war. Everyone, really EVERYONE expected a quick Russian victory. Nevertheless, here we are. And at least by now I have hope that Ukraine will survive as a sovereign state. Which was hardly thought possible at the beginning of the war. However, I doubt that they will manage to take back Crimea, for example. Even the greatest optimists are rather skeptical.

The political situation is also tricky. So much can happen. The implosion of Putin's regime would be nice, of course... And the support for Ukraine is always in the balance, in Europe there is a constant dispute about how to proceed. The fact is that nothing works without US military support.

I'm not a doctor, but I also think that Biden, despite his lapses, is in better mental shape than Donnie. Which is not difficult. I'm a little afraid of a televised debate between Trump and Biden, though. I just hope Biden survives the rigors of campaigning. As sorry as I am and as much as I respect him, he really isn't the youngest anymore.

Yes, guess we'll see...The imminent Ukrainian counteroffensive could once again upset all predictions, for better or for worse.

US tanks up until the M1 were equipped with gunners quadrants and azimuth indicators. Since M1 doctrine called for only carrying sabot and HEAT rounds, using a tank for indirect fire wasn’t really possible any more since HEAT is less effective in that role than HE.

For old tanks like T-54/55s the Russians should have warehouses full of 100mm HE rounds.

US tank doctrine in WW2 called for M4s to carry a large quantity of HE for both direct and indirect fire.

Checking and not only did T-54/55s come equipped with azimuth indicators (the clock-looking object in the photos) but so do T-90s.

Gunner’s quadrants are often stored when not in use to keep them from being damaged.

    (Re)start.

The T-80UD (a T-80 with a powerful diesel engine instead of gas turbine) was developed by Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau (KMDB) almost half a century ago. It was also produced there (Ukraine produced about 1/3rd of the Soviet Union’s arms).

The T-84 was developed in the 90s. It is just a T-80UD but with all Ukrainian parts.

The Oplot was an export prototype built for NATO countries. It’s a T-84 but with a STANAG 120mm main gun and other upgrades.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the physical comparison hurts Biden when people are comparing "probably does have brittle bones but rides a bike all the time" to "so out of shape that he had to take a golf cart instead of walking 700 yards with the other G7 leaders."

Biden is probably in a better state mentally than the completely insane Trump. But you have to come down now and see things realistically. Once and for all.

It's an absolute disaster that the most powerful, most important nation in the world is led by an old man who sometimes doesn't know where he is or what's going on around him right now. That's just a fucking disaster, completely independent of political preferences. I really think Biden is a good guy and is doing a good job foreign policy wise.... But open your eyes... I hope he has good advisors, I hope he becomes president again in 2024, but it's absolutely crazy that he has to shoulder this thing again and the simple-minded, cranky-faced Democrats haven't built a successor. Absolutely crazy, absolutely negligent. You just can't sugarcoat it.
