Yet in the videos we've seen they've been behind barricades.

I'm inclined to suggest the curfew is somewhat conditional. After all what likelihood is there that the military would be much inclined to go arresting their own people who want to fight alongside them?

That's actually a shot from 2014 that's been going around. Haven't seen anything similar to that - yet.

But when the AFVs are rolling down the street, curfew isn't going to be on anyone's to do list.

If the needle is moving on Federal Farmer, we may be looking at that 50% number being much lower in the not too distant future.

Boomers lean conservative, Gen-X is moderate, Millennials and Gen Z are definitely more liberal. Politics are going to shift in the US.

Kharkiv is under an assault right now that certainly meets the definition of war crime. Hopefully the Hague will be busy.

Wow, several thoughts on this at the same time.

    1) It's highly unlikely anyone with actual responsibility for the Ukraine invasion will ever see the Hague.
    2) If by some miracle that does happen, a lot of the responsibility for it will be from the west's military industrial complex.
    and
    3) It is quite likely we haven't even seen the beginning of war crimes. We'll have to see how far Russia is willing to go. They settled the revolution in Syria by bringing in the thermobaric weapons. Aleppo is a very quiet, very pacified city today. Because the majority of it's population is dead.

On the cultural warfare front, Russian hockey teams and tournament sites are finding themselves verrry unpopular with the rest of Europe right now.

    and now

The KHL, a premier Russia-based league, has also seen two external teams announce they will sit out the rest of the season.

MSNBC reports the Swiss are joining in the sanctions. A lot of oligarchs (including Putin?) have got to be shitting their pants. The Ruble's value plummeting is also going to squeeze everyone else. Putin may have fucked up. Biden may also end up looking awfully smart and capable. Hard to reconcile that with the image the right-wing echo chamber is pushing. I liked from the start Biden putting out the word that Russia was going to mount a false flag operation as a pretext. Developing.... :corn:

Tass was hacked. The Moscow Exchange website is down - has been for 48+ hours.

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/tass-site-hacked-with-putin-makes-us-lie-message

“Dear citizens. We urge you to stop this madness, do not send your sons and husbands to certain death. Putin makes us lie and puts us in danger,” the hacked site read. “In a few years we will live like in North Korea. What is it for us? To put Putin in the textbooks? This is not our war, let’s stop it!”

As I said upthread, if the folks who helped Nazis hide stolen gold after the war have said you’ve gone too far, you’ve really fucked up.

Remember when Trump unilaterally took us out of the overflight program that allowed Russia and the US to each monitor each other's territory for military buildups?

Also of note, MSNBC just reported that the MoEx (Moscow Stock Exchange) will be closed the entire week. And that foreigners will be unable to sell currency holdings in Russia.

At this point, I'm thinking some of this has to be intentional. They aren't THIS incompetent, are they? Well, maybe they are.

I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point there was a push from more than just Ukraine to have Russia’s seat on the UNSC stripped. IIRC, unlike with the ROC->PRC transition, there was no general assembly vote for the USSR->Russia one. Instead it was done per a memo from the UN equivalent of the OLC. So another memo could, for instance, split that permanent vote between all the former USSR countries.
