I learned it from an RA at college who'd spent time in 'Nam and talked about mixing the stuff up. Fun fact: Tide (and pretty much all detergents AFAIK) no longer contains phosphorus, thus making them basically useless for this. You can, however, get trisodium phosphate (which was the key ingredient in things like Tide) easily enough.

Come to think of it, I've got some of that, and about a pound of magnesium. Seems I'm a tad better prepared for another civil war than I thought.

I was thinking about this last night.

You would have to ask for volunteers, but what if the US announced to the world and used all the official channels to inform Russia that there would be a humanitarian aid drop on Mariupol. Provide a flight path, timing, everything. Have all beacons and lights on and chirping/shining at full blast.

What could Russia do? Mariupol is Ukrainian territory. Russia hasn’t even made a claim on it. They gonna shoot it down?

Interesting idea, but unfortunately don't think it would work. Best case Russian aircraft could fly interference, making it unsafe to fly through. Then it gets worse, into scenarios like the Russians taking advantage of the western air traffic there to fly their own aircraft through and attack targets in the western regions of Ukraine.

The problem is really much larger than all of this.

I read a theory that once the nuclear bomm was made it was just a matter of time before nuclear armageddon. This is because eventually something is going to trigger it. This was why not having nuclear bombs was supposedly the way to go.

The launching of nukes all over the planet is going to happen IMO. A person like Putin, little Kim, or even trump is going to realize that the threat of nuclear retaliation is going to allow them to pick on someone else. The US has done it, now Russia is doing it. No one is going to go to war with the big guys to stop them.

This means the big guys will slowly learn they can use their conventional armies without much trouble. They will always retain their gains because to attack them and defeat them like a Nazi Germany would mean everyone loses. The fact that there are opponents who can destroy everything means that eventually they will come into contact and fight. That means someone is going to lose, and their power has a final solution.

It really is just an issue of whether or not this will be the event that causes it. The only way to have stopped the event was to not build the ability to destroy the world with nuclear weapons.
