If nothing else, the invasion of Ukraine should prove once and for all, the issues in Russia had little to do with their economic policies and more to do with inept leadership.

I'd like to thank Rand Paul for his erudite arguments, and the British takeover of its breakaway colony in the Americas will commence next week.

    Just remember, my American friends:

    Trump sided with Putin.

    Biden sided with Zelenskyy.

Which one is on the side of freedom and courage, and which one is on the side of tyranny and cowardice?

I wonder again if some admin with more time on their hands than sense should go through this thread and separate the geo-strategic aspects of this from the battlefield tactical thread.

Being the third-largest producer of oil still gives Russia a lot of leverage, and they definitely need to be taken down a few notches in terms of global influence.

Hopefully one of the positive things that will come out of this conflict is less reliance on fossil fuels.

Same caveat as yesterday. We are only getting one side.

But it really seems like RU has only a couple more weeks to have some kind of serious breakthrough or that’s it.

    Ukrainians casually destroying Russian tanks...

Since the tanks didn't attempt to move, I'm guessing they were unoccupied or abandoned...?

In any event, they're scrap metal now.

Sidebar but I and others have posted a lot of vids of Russian vics getting stuck, having accidents, broken down (and abandoned) etc.

To be clear this isn’t unique to the Russians. Shit breaks down ALL the time. Shit gets stuck ALL the time. Shit has accidents ALL the time (even more when you have IEDs and other fun stuff thrown in the mix).

One of the Army pages I’m on has pics almost daily of people fucking themselves and equipment up.

Here are five from just the last three days:

    14AB1231-E03B-4084-AF46-E99375549A28.jpeg
    A74F4A2D-ADFD-4396-A3BA-B8440D3BEC21.jpeg
    B15F4E62-55B6-4712-A41C-9F6FEDC292A6.jpeg
    A292F5E9-AA48-4140-9888-7D01D141A74B.jpeg
    042EEDE8-1D15-4665-B783-490B1E152694.jpeg

Now a key difference here are that the above fuck ups AREN’T happening in a war zone. We are constantly using our equipment, training on it, keeping it maintained (still hate Monday Motor Stables) and drilling.

I can say for a fact that a Stryker Brigade drills constantly on connecting up tow bars and pulling a ‘disabled’ vehicle. Like timed drills. And the tow bars necessary to pull an 18t vehicle aren’t exactly light.

I can also say for a fact that drivers are given live action training on just how much of an angle a Stryker can handle before rolling over (and the poor dismounts get the experience of praying he doesn’t go too far and/or getting a live action roll over drill*) and then everyone in the company gets first hand experience righting a roll over.

So it isn’t just the fact that the Russian equipment seems to be totally ill-maintained but that the crews seem to have almost no experience with said equipment except for May 9 parades.

Ukrainians aren’t the only ones capturing stuff. :(

That said dude is supposed to be Russian SOF and he just puts his barrel in the dirt and then fucks around with literal explosives while his buddy films?!?!

    Talk about fucking stupid.
