I agree with ya, but I've had to listen those same "experts" lay out the case for why Stanford and Luck are so good, and why they hopefully lap Oklahoma State to get into the title game. This will go for a week or so, until something else happens and they totally reverse their positions, rinse, repeat. The argument should be who is in the playoff, not which two teams get cherry picked for the title game. I'm hoping whomever wins the LSU/Bama game somehow gets a loss just to make them all shit their pants.
The only opinions that matter are those of the big money power brokers who have been living high on the hog for decades off the bowl system. Nothing will ever change until an outsider, such as Mark Cuban, creates an alternate system to the NCAA joke and makes it financially lucrative enough for the big schools to dump the NCAA & BCS.
Just remember kids, while CBS is showing the Game Of The Willenium, the Pokes will be over on ABC facing their toughest opponent... Oklahoma State vs. Complacency Nov. 5, 12 and 19. The Cowboys are in prime position to play the SEC champion for the national title, and the final hurdle looms largest: the annual Bedlam game against hated rival Oklahoma in Stillwater on Dec. 3. But we’re dealing with November first, and there are three opponents Oklahoma State must treat with respect before getting to the biggest game in school history. First up is Kansas State on Saturday in Stillwater, and even with the Wildcats at 7-1 that could be the easiest of the three – they have the look of an overachiever whose bubble burst in the second half against Oklahoma. Then there are consecutive road trips to Texas Tech and Iowa State. Ask Bob Stoops about taking on Tommy Tuberville with a high ranking, and then ask Nebraska, Texas and Iowa about the risk of overlooking Paul Rhoads’ Cyclones. Oklahoma State should be 11-0 and ranked no worse than No. 2 heading into December – but funny things happen this time of year.
Looks like the shit is completely hitting the fan at Penn State: Paterno and the athletic director are implicated in covering up child rape by a former coach, with the A.D. facing an actual perjury charge on the matter. Yikes. Even at Penn State, that's the kind of thing that can end a program. We'll see where things go from here.
At halftime, the "Game of the Century" looks like a Maryland or a New Mexico-type game. Shanked field goals galore.
I wonder if a 1 v. 2 game has ever resulted in both teams dropping in the rankings. This one really, really should.
That was a fucking game, KSU matched the Cowboys punch for punch. I would have loved the blowout but it was good to see them take a punch after a streak of decisive wins.
The LSU vs UA game had all the allure of a pro game for me. I had no horse in the race, I just wanted to see a good game. Shortly after half-time, I turned to my wife and said, "I wish it were possible for both teams to lose." But, the Bama Fan rantings on Facebook have made this moment priceless. If they weren't bitching about the Place Kicker (it honestly wouldn't surprise me if he got death threats), otherwise normal people were talking about how the Officials had been bought by LSU. And, of course, in the last ten or so minutes, 20+ comments have shown up. Let me paraphrase. "At least we didn't roll over and die like that cow college..."
And then either Georgia or SC in the SEC championship. My money is on it being SC, but that's predicated on Auburn beating Georgia so I could be a bit biased.
Yeah, well I'm a little tired of hearing about how *insert team here*'s lack of a dominating defense is a liability, when pretty much any starting Big XII quarterback would be an OMGWTFBBQALLSTAR for any team in the vaunted SEC. Seriously, four missed field goals? In one game? Most teams don't miss four kicks in one season, except maybe the Sooners. [YT="And now your moment of zen..."]D5idJmdag50[/YT]
Poor evenflow, this is his year and the thread is so weak compared to every previous year's thread. Should Oklahoma State manage to beat what is undoubtedly the most powerful Red Raider team in history then I will pull for them to win all the way out and represent the Big XII in the National Championship. After Saturday I wish you good luck. As for this week we'll see which Texas Tech shows up. I'm not sure it matters because what happened in Norman was most likely a fluke. Also, I won't see any of the game unless my flight to Hawaii happens to carry it. Aloha, bitches.
Let's finally have some football. This weekend, Oklahoma State/Texas Tech, Stanford/Oregon, Boise/TCU, Auburn/Georgia. Did anyone watch the ESPN film on the Auburn/Alabama rivalry? In light of Oklahoma & Alabama's kicking problems, did anyone hear the story about Tennessee's new kicker?
I have it DVR'd. I'll comment after I see it, but going by the reactions of my Alabama Fan friends on Facebook, it's pretty good. As for Auburn vs. Georgia. As far as I'm concerned, it's the second most important game of the year. Auburn better bring it.
