I'm scared. Somebody remind me again of how bad the Texas secondary is.

The Texas secondary is so bad, when the coach told them he wanted to see some good tackles on Saturday, they spent hours polishing their fishing equipment.

That was a bit closer than expected but I'll take any double digit win in Austin. Hopefully the less than stellar performance will mean a a good outing in Columbia next week.

#4 in the BCS bitches!

First things first, we have a game at Missouri this Saturday. They're better than their record, and more mature than Texas. They'd love nothing more than to take us down a peg. Lord knows we've done it to them recently. On the plus side, the only program with more of a history of underachieving than OSU has been Missery. We should play better than we did at Texas, and Gundy has out coached Pinkel before.

We're in no place to look ahead, at least not yet. Ours is not a schedule filled with SEC cupcakes. :bergman:

Seems like it went from my fingers to Chizik's ears.

Auburn names Clint Moseley starting quarterback for Saturday's game at No. 1 LSU

It'll be a hell of a game to get your first start on. :marathon:

You all suck. The year that my Pokes are 7-0, cruising towards the Bedlam game undefeated this thread is barely afloat. :bailey:

It's not my fault my team disbanded after the 2008 season. I'm pulling for yours now. But really all I care about for the next week is the World Series.

Yeah, but our #1 sign decommitted for next year - his brother is on the team this year, and he lost his scholarship due to injury, so one of the top players in the nation isn't coming. Tarnation!

    Wisconsin and Oklahoma go down.

So the unbeatens are LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma St, Boise St, and Stanford. Be curious to see if a 1 loss SEC team gets in over an unbeaten.

OU has dropped to 11 in the AP, with Oklahoma State taking their number three spot. Everyone was looking towards the Sooners game at undefeated Kansas State next week as their possible loss.

Whether it's print, radio or television, local media is going to be incredible this week.

Okay, so excluding naps in airports and on planes I haven't slept in a couple days, so maybe I'm not thinking clearly, but how would this be possible, both Alabama and LSU are in the West?

Edit, okay so back after a couple hour nap.

Basically for this to happen, either Auburn would have to upset Alabama (unfortunately, while possible, not probable this season :() or Arkansas will have to upset LSU. Slightly more likely, but not by much IMO. Also, whoever lost will have to have won the Alabama LSU match, something again I don't think likely.

I believe I'm coming around to like Tuberville. I didn't think he would be able to win in Lubbock but he's got the program headed back in the right direction. That win in Norman really made a statement. We're not as good as the best of the Pirate-era teams right now but I think in a year or 2 we can be back in good shape. And with Texas' blunder at QB setting them back a few seasons that means this weak conference is wide open for the taking. This year I'm pulling for Okie Lite to get it done since Tech winning the conference would be very very unlikely but at least I have good football in the foreseeable future to look forward to enjoying. I really thought we were going to end up being the next A&M with losing seasons and at least a decade of subpar football. With their jump to the SEC they may end up going through another decade of that.

Be careful he doesn't get complacent. Overall I liked him as well.

Honestly, not trying to pick on A&M, but I think that might be a decade too optimistic. Look at how long it has taken Arkansas and S. Carolina to become contenders.

I have nothing against him, he brought home the bacon, but I'm still not sold on Coach Chizik. I do like that he's not afraid to get his hands dirty (IE: He won't just tell you how he wants it done. He'll get down in the mix and show you how he wants it done.) Can you imagine Bear or JoPa doing that even in their primes?

He's a genuinely good guy and he has the passion and determination down pat. He's HUGE on recruiting and, excluding Cam, has done pretty well in that regard. All he really needs to prove is that he can actually use strategy (and a little gambling) when coaching on the sidelines.

I've always been and always will be an OU fan, win or lose. Just because I don't run to Wordforge to post after every game doesn't change that.

SC versus Stanford today. Here's a chance to knock a fellow Pac-12 team out of the top 10!! :tasvir:

    And Navy versus Notre Dame.

There are few things I pay less attention to than the local media, so I don't know the extent of the fallout from OU's loss to Tech. I'm sure the usual suspects looking to churn up controversy for the sake of ratings will start calling for Stoops' head. Not that I care what the local sports radio nimrods have to say.

While the loss was disappointing, I wasn't necessarily surprised. The uninspired effort at home against Mizzou was a big warning sign. The stomping of Texas was, IMO, as much about how bad the Longhorns are as it was OU's talent. And even the win against Florida St. has lost it's luster given the Seminoles' struggles this season. This has been a problem for OU under Stoops - while having a wealth of future 1st round NFL draft talent, they have a unfortunate tendency to come out complacent, lazy. There's often no fire in their eyes. That gets them into trouble against teams who see their date with OU as their Super Bowl.

So Tex and Ancalagon will have their fun at OU's expense, and that's fine. If you dish it, you need to be able to take it.

But here's the deal. Next year Texas Tech will still be what they've always been - a mediocre afterthought whose definition of success is a 7-4 record and playing in the GoDaddy.com Bowl in front of 150 curious fans.

Next year OU will field another top-10 or top-5 program with aspirations of a national championship.

    So....yeah, that's an OK tradeoff.

I'll actually be rooting for OSU (assuming they go into the game undefeated), as I'd like to see an Oklahoma team play for the national championship.

Not that I would ever pick the Cowboys to win. Either LSU or Alabama would destroy them. It will be a victory just to finally crash through that glass ceiling and make it to the big game.

Of course I'll also laugh my ass off when the Sooners once again crush the hopes and dreams of Stillwater. The collective howl of agony will be heard from orbit.

As I type it's Oklahoma State 56, Baylor Griffin the Thirds 17, with two garbage TD's in the 4th quarter. No one will ever compare our defense to anyone in the SEC, but it's pretty nice to see them step up against a good offense after a week of hearing about how Baylor is going to gash us. Now I want to see how Stanford fares against the better teams on their schedule, since all you hear on ESPN is what Stanford needs to do to bypass OSU and get in the title game.

OU is crushing Kansas State and I'm not going to predict that Gundy can beat them until he does it, no matter what happens in the next few weeks.

Considering it looks like USC gave Stanford a major scare with Triple OT (!!!) just by looking at the score, Stanford's going to have their work cut out for them when Oregon's turn comes up in a few weeks.

And you know who I'll be rooting for :bailey:

Also, is it wrong for me to hope that LSU gets washed over by the Tide next Saturday?

Here's another reason why I hate FBS college football. Stanford beats a good USC team on the road in triple overtime to stay perfect. Yet some brain-dead "sports writers" now start questioning if Stanford is now good enough for the BCS title game because of HOW they won the game...on the road...against a ranked opponent.

FBS football-the only sport where you can win all your games and still have no shot at a championship or have "experts" question how good you are. :jayzus:
