actually I have showered with an M16 back in army basic. It wasn't my idea, it was an old school drill sergeant technique, or so they claimed. I think they were fucking with us, but it made sense when they explained the science behind it.

This is true, and that guy needs to be in prison for a long time. The kid did have a gun so it's not like he was innocent and the cop had no reason to be scared for his safety.

I'm not saying the kid was some kind of angel. I'm just saying that using deadly force even 1 second after the threat had ended isn't what I'd call a good shoot.

Let us go back a few months. What if the cops had blown away the protestors at the capitol that fast. What if they even tried to arrest them for actually committing a crime?

I rated it dumb because had the kid been white in the situation, the cops wouldn't have fucking iced him if the kid had been in that situation.

Yep, the kid was unarmed for a fraction of a second. He could have surrendered ten seconds earlier and he'd most likely be alive. It doesn't get much easier than mess with the bull and you get the horns.

He was unarmed for, for all intents and purposes, a second. Almost a full second. I'm guessing for all your time in "the sandbox", you've never taken a civilian defensive handgun or combat handgun course, have you. A second is a lot longer than you seem to think it is in that situation.

Damn my white step brother was shot by white cops (he survived) back in the day - guess those cops didn't get the memo. Oh and an Army buddy of mine's civilian brother got shot and killed by cops back in the day. I'm starting to think cops shoot white people too. Let's check it out:

Oh really now? Tell me all about it Billy Badass. Better yet, tell it to the judge if the cop is tried and walks. Under the circumstances that cop did what any of us might have done on any given night. This was not mistaking a taser for a Glock.

I refuse to give anyone a pass on their disgraceful behavior, no matter how much power they wield or how high their placement on the victimhood totem pole. The same standards apply to everyone.

I also notice nobody is saying anything like "RAISE YOUR FUCKING KIDS NOT TO RUN AROUND FIRING HANDGUNS AT NIGHT." Because, of course, parents bear no more responsibility than their crotch fruit. The world should be their safespace to get up to a little bit of harmless gang banging. A little random gunfire. All in good fun. If that kid had instead lived to kill another civilian, we wouldn't even be fucking hearing about it.

This right here is exactly the problem. Every cop should have the training so that they know exactly how to react in those situations.

Which brings me back to the training question I asked that @oldfella1962 ignored. If a police trainee shot an unarmed 13 year old with his hands up in a training exercise, would that be Pass, Fail, or Good Enough?
