I've played this games through from start to finish now TWICE and I have yet to get knocked into a bottom less pit by any actions of an enemy. Maybe you just suck?
Sounds to me like LEC released another unfinished game, based on the reports of how buggy it is. They fooled me once with KOTOR II. I shall not be so easily fooled again.
Oh, I've no doubt about that. But I'm also playing on Easy, and if I'm getting frustrated on the second mission on Easy, then, well, it's not exactly what I'd call a winner when it comes to a control scheme. It's great that you're enjoying it, don't get me wrong. But not everyone is perhaps as good at it as you are, and I think that's something that game developers are increasingly not accounting for (in addition to things like screen resolution, game session lengths, etc.).
Well, my comment to you was meant to be ironic because I also am a terrible, terrible gamer. I have fallen into pits through my own carelessness (not a fan of platform jumping at any rate), but never once due to trauma from an enemy. I'm sorry you're not enjoying the game as much as you could be, though.
Whenever I mention I want to create video games, Bailey is always the first to say "what makes YOU think YOU can create a good video game?" I feel better now that I know if this is the stuff that passes for a "good" video game nowadays, I'm about as qualified as him.
Actually, what I always say is that there are no lack of good ideas in the games industry, everyone has them and I can guarantee you that on virtually on game that is released most of the team will end up hating it because they only see the things that could have been better or that may have been great ideas but didn't translate well into actual gameplay. See above.
I rented it based on the mixed reviews I've read here and I can say that I am not at all displeased with the game. The fact that this game is considered canon is amazing, it is truly a unique and great addition to the Star Wars universe. I love shocking the jump troopers so that their packs start wigging out and they fly off in a random direction and blow up shortly thereafter. My two biggest annoyances both happened on the junk planet, as it turns out. The Jedi you face the first time around was a real big pain in the ass, I checked out an FAQ online and they were throwing out terms that I hadn't learned through the normal course of the game and it goes to show, if you don't pay attention how to use combos and button presses properly you can get fucked hard in combat. Then it was the star destroyer. There was no real explanation going on throughout, I thought the stick motions and all of that was a little too complicated. And why the hell did I have to turn it so I could pull it nose first? WTF. I only had a couple minor platforming issues, one was being knocked off by enemies and the other was my own stupid fault. I loved, absolutely loved, throwing large crates at TIEs and watching them blow up.
Played it for a few hours on a Wii over the weekend. I thought it was pretty damned fun, honestly. I was glad I put in the time to get through all of the tutorials, and I probably didn't get halfway through the game (left off at the beginning of the Shak Ti level), but I didn't need more than 4-5 tries on any of the bosses so far.
I'm not sure if it's good or not, but the wii/PS2 versions of the game are different. All the focus is on the 360/PS3 version.
I beat it last night, and I have a few minor complaints. Directly after the credits roll it kicks you right into a new game, which autosaves over your endgame file. This sucks quite a bit. In interest of achievement hunting, it kills my opportunity to easily reload that last checkpoint where you make your decision and this time kill the opposite for the other achievement. The game also doesn't let you go back and replay old levels with powers earned throughout, which is stupid. Which means you have to play each level with a fine tooth comb the first time to get all the holocrons. All in all I enjoyed it, but it is definitely a rental on the 360, given that there aren't any other game modes. EDIT I totaled 6:30 hours and that was with a lot of farting around in some levels on the normal difficulty.
Do you mean returning during the game, or after starting a new game? Because after starting again you should be fully powered up.
It isn't very obvious, but I too rushed at the emperor. Right before that though, you can see Vader down a pit to the right. They don't make it very obvious, but I can imagine that killing Vader then makes you become the Emps new apprentice and would be considered the non-canonical ending.

OK, just started playing this game last week. It's not bad. I love how your force powers go stronger. However, how in the hell do you defeat the Emperor?!? I get a couple good lightning strikes in there and one or two chokes and then he kicks my ass and the level restarts.
Still not happy with LucasArts for not releasing it on the PC, especially when they bring out a version for the PS2, PSP and DS and then have the nerve to claim the average PC won't be powerful enough to handle the game!
The PS2/PSP version is a completely different game from the ground up, while I think it's a good game for the consoles it's aimed at, if it had been released as a modern pc game people would have been very disappointed.
Have you upgraded all your powers? I found him pretty easy to defeat using a combination of jumping up above him and then force shoving down, keeping him pushed down to the ground.
